After arriving in Lang Son, on the morning of August 15, 2025, the working delegation had a working session with the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Lang Son province. The focus of the working session was to exchange experiences in building and implementing ethnic and religious policies in Lang Son province. Welcoming the working delegation were Mr. Pham Duc Huan, Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions; representatives of the leaders of agencies and units: Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Agriculture and Environment, Department of Education and Training, Department of Health, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Deputy Directors of the Department and leaders of specialized departments of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions.

In his welcoming speech to the delegation, the Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions emphasized that “Vietnam and Thailand are two countries with a long-standing friendly relationship, with many similarities in customs, practices and culture. Thailand has many successes and experiences in implementing policies for people in mountainous areas and ethnic groups. The visit and working session of the Delegation of the Department of Social Development and Welfare, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand today is an opportunity for the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Lang Son province to exchange and learn effective models and solutions, thereby researching and applying them to local practical conditions”.

On behalf of the delegation of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions , Mr. Hoang Van Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, highly appreciated the results achieved in implementing ethnic and religious policies of Lang Son province in the past time; at the same time, he emphasized that the visit of the delegation of the Department of Social Development and Welfare, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand is an opportunity to promote exchanges, enhance understanding and cooperation between the functional agencies of the two countries, as well as share experiences in the process of implementing ethnic and religious policies.

In recent years, Lang Son province has synchronously deployed solutions for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas and achieved many outstanding results. The implementation of ethnic and religious programs and policies and the implementation of 03 National Target Programs for the period 2021-2025 have been seriously and effectively implemented by Lang Son province, contributing significantly to changing the face of rural mountainous areas. Infrastructure, especially transportation, urban areas, and key projects have been invested and upgraded, creating momentum for socio-economic development. Belief and religious activities have taken place stably and purely religiously; important religious ceremonies have been organized on a large scale, attracting a large number of followers; no complicated incidents have arisen; religious dignitaries, officials and followers have actively participated in patriotic emulation movements, social and charitable activities, making a practical contribution to the development of the province.
Ms. Jittima Kreearee, Deputy Director General of the Department of Social Development and Welfare of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand, spoke and discussed at the working session.
At the meeting, the two sides had a frank and open discussion on many important issues such as implementing ethnic and religious policies, developing agricultural and forestry production associated with sustainable livelihoods, as well as preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic minority and mountainous areas. The delegation highly appreciated the specific policies that Lang Son is implementing, especially the mechanisms to encourage investment, link production and consumption of agricultural products, and efforts to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, contributing to improving the lives of ethnic minorities.

After finishing the working session with the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Lang Son province, in the afternoon of the same day, the working delegation continued their field trip to Chi Lang commune. Here, the delegation visited and worked with the People's Committee of Chi Lang commune and directly visited and learned about some typical production models associated with the advantages of the ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Immediately after that, the delegation visited the custard apple growing model in Lung Cut area, Chi Lang commune, which is famous for the Chi Lang custard apple variety with outstanding quality, which has become a typical agricultural brand of Lang Son province. At the custard apple garden, the members of the delegation directly learned about the process of cultivation, harvesting and consumption of the product; at the same time, listened to the sharing about the economic efficiency that custard apple trees bring to the ethnic minorities here.

On August 16, 2025, the working delegation continued to visit Vu Le commune, Lang Son province ; the delegation visited and worked with the People's Committee of Vu Le commune, listened to a general report on the socio-economic development situation, new rural construction work, as well as learned experiences in socio-economic development associated with exploiting the tourism and environmental potential of the locality.

Next, the Delegation visited the community tourism development model at Mo Mam stream tourist area; a destination associated with natural landscapes, which is being gradually invested and promoted by the locality to become an attractive tourism product, contributing to increasing income for the people. In the afternoon of the same day, the Delegation visited the commercial civet and mink farming model at Trong Huong Mink Farm. Here, the members of the Delegation learned about the process of caring for, breeding and consuming civet and mink products, a farming model that brings high economic efficiency, creates jobs and opens up a new direction for the development of local household economy.

The visit and working session of the Delegation of the Department of Social Development and Welfare, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand and the Delegation of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions in Lang Son province ended in a friendly, open and effective atmosphere. The experience exchange activities and on-site visits helped the members of the Delegation gain a more comprehensive and in-depth view of the results of implementing ethnic and religious policies in Lang Son province. This is not only an opportunity for the two sides to strengthen solidarity, consolidate mutual understanding and share practical experiences in management, but also affirm the determination to join hands in building sustainable economic development models, bringing practical benefits to ethnic minority and mountainous people./.
