On the afternoon of September 9, Working Group No. 3 of the Ministry of National Defense led by Major General Ha Nhu Loi, Deputy Director of the General Department of Logistics, visited and inspected the work of preventing, combating, and overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 (Yagi) at Regiment 213, Division 363, Air Defense - Air Force.
Reporting on the implementation of storm prevention and control work and damage at the unit, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Tien Dung, Commander of Regiment 213, said: This is the biggest storm in many years to occur in the area, with a rapid increase in intensity and maintaining the super storm level for a long time, over a large area, the unit stationed in Quang Ninh province is in the eye of the storm. In that situation, the Regiment has directed agencies and units to deploy many synchronous and drastic measures to respond to storm No. 3. However, despite ensuring the safety of people and equipment, the damage caused by storm No. 3 is very severe.
According to initial statistics, more than 3,000 square meters of corrugated iron roofing sheets for military houses and other buildings had their roofs blown off, nearly 1,000 meters of surrounding walls collapsed, dozens of signs and propaganda boards collapsed, nearly 1,000 square meters of glass doors were broken, more than 4,000 trees, fruit trees, and timber trees were broken, uprooted, and many areas of gardens and livestock barns were damaged, the entire electricity and water systems were lost, and communications were interrupted...
After directly going to grasp the situation, visiting and encouraging officers and soldiers on duty to overcome the consequences of the storm, Major General Ha Nhu Loi praised the unit for its efforts, overcoming difficulties, and implementing measures to prevent, combat, and overcome the consequences of storm No. 3...
With the initial results and identifying that the tasks ahead are still very heavy, the working group requested the leaders and commanders of Regiment 213 to continue to strictly implement the directives of the superiors; quickly stabilize the situation, strictly maintain combat readiness, manage airspace and be ready to handle arising situations, not be negligent, continue to monitor post-storm circulation, have effective plans to prevent the risk of landslides, flash floods, inundation, etc., ensuring absolute safety for people and equipment. At the same time, the Regiment needs to coordinate with local authorities and forces stationed in the area to help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters. Along with the above tasks, the unit needs to pay special attention to measures to prevent and control epidemics after the storm, ensure environmental sanitation, maintain the health and life of soldiers.
To continue implementing the task, Major General Ha Nhu Loi requested the unit to proactively grasp the situation forecast, not to be passive and surprised; strictly maintain the duty, command duty, combat readiness duty at all levels; strictly carry out patrol and guard duties to ensure the safety of units, warehouses, and military bases; closely inspect areas at risk of flooding and landslides and organize evacuation to safe places. At the same time, do a good job of propaganda, organize visits and encouragement to military families, families of policy beneficiaries, and meritorious people in areas affected by storm No. 3. During the implementation process, the unit needs to ensure safety, organize reviews, summarize the situation, and draw lessons from the work of preventing, combating, and overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3.
On this occasion, the delegation inspected the damage caused by storm No. 3 at the Quang Ninh Provincial Military Command; Group 22 (Navy) and Brigade 147 (Navy Region 1); Brigade 490 (Artillery Corps).
