Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang delivered a speech welcoming representatives of purchasing delegations and businesses at the International Supply Chain Connection event in 2024.
To successfully implement the event, from the beginning of 2025, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien and leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade have resolutely directed relevant units to develop an implementation plan, and directed Vietnamese Trade Offices abroad to actively and proactively introduce, mobilize, invite and organize delegations of foreign purchasing enterprises in the area to participate in the event.
On August 3, 2025, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, in Official Dispatch No. 5739/CD-BCT, stated that “recently, the global economy has been experiencing unprecedented fluctuations, from trade conflicts between major countries, supply chain disruptions, market protection trends with tariff and non-tariff barriers, to rapid changes in consumption trends. These fluctuations have had a major impact on the production, business, import and export activities of Vietnamese enterprises. In that context, in parallel with supporting businesses to make the most of the Free Trade Agreements of which our country is a member, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has urgently implemented a strategy of market diversification, product diversification, and supply chain diversification to maintain and develop its position in international trade. The series of events "Connecting international supply chains - Viet Nam International Sourcing" was coordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City has organized this event since 2023 and it is one of the activities highly appreciated by the business community, bringing positive results in expanding export markets for Vietnamese enterprises."
On that basis, to successfully organize the event Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2025, in the telegram, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien directed and requested Vietnamese Trade Offices abroad to focus on urgently deploying and effectively implementing information, propaganda, introduction, attraction and selection, invitation, and organization of delegations of representatives of enterprises, importers, buyers, distribution groups, supermarket chains, etc. in the area to attend the event.

As of August 19, 2025, a total of 105 individuals representing over 40 Philippine businesses have registered to attend the Viet Nam International Sourcing Expo 2025 in Vietnam. This is a record number, the first time a large number of Filipino businessmen have registered to attend an international supply chain event held in Vietnam. This registration number far exceeds the record of 70 delegates representing over 20 Philippine businesses coming to Vietnam to attend the Viet Nam International Sourcing Expo 2024.

With the large number of registrations for the event as mentioned above, it shows that Vietnam is becoming an ideal destination for Philippine businesses to explore and explore opportunities for trade cooperation and search for sources of goods to meet the increasing needs of the Filipino people, in the context of the Philippines' production of goods still having many limitations and not keeping up with the increasing consumer demand. This record number is also the result of the tireless efforts and activities of the Vietnam Trade Office in the Philippines, overcoming all difficulties, with the motto "every event and every fair, exhibition or weekly activity of the Vietnam Trade Office in the Philippines will strive to bring to the Filipino people and international friends the image of the country and people of Vietnam as friendly and beautiful, introducing to the Filipino people and international friends the achievements in economic development that Vietnam has achieved, the quality products, delicious flavors made by the Vietnamese people, thereby helping to erase the prejudices and ideological thoughts of the Filipino people and international friends about the country and people of Vietnam, about products made by Vietnam, things that they may not have had the opportunity to experience in reality before to change".

It can be said that, despite facing numerous difficulties, 2025 is also the year that the Vietnam Trade Office achieved outstanding success in inviting Philippine business delegations to Vietnam to attend domestic fairs and exhibitions and to seek partners and customers.
In April 2025, the Vietnam Trade Office in the Philippines, implementing the direction of the Minister and Leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Department of Foreign Market Development, the Trade Promotion Agency and functional units, coordinated with Vinexad Advertising and Trade Fair Joint Stock Company to invite and support the organization of a delegation of 24 representatives of Philippine associations and enterprises to Vietnam to seek opportunities for trade and investment cooperation and participate in the 34th Vietnam International Trade Fair - VIETNAM EXPO.

It can be seen that 2024 witnessed a breakthrough growth in import-export turnover between Vietnam and the Philippines for the first time. At the end of 2024, the total import-export turnover between Vietnam and the Philippines exceeded the 8 billion USD mark for the first time, specifically reaching over 8.66 billion USD, an increase of more than 11% compared to 2023. Of which, exports exceeded the 6 billion USD mark for the first time, specifically reaching 6.19 billion USD, an increase of 20.2% compared to 2023, imports reached 2.47 billion USD, a decrease of 6.7% compared to 2023. Vietnam's trade surplus with the Philippine market in 2024 exceeded the 3 billion USD mark for the first time, reaching 3.72 billion USD, higher than the previously expected 3.5 billion USD. These are extremely impressive numbers for the old year 2024, but with the strong change in the confidence of Philippine businessmen in the Vietnamese market, along with the tireless efforts and attempts to overcome difficulties of the Vietnam Trade Office in the Philippines, it is hoped that the growth momentum of two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and the Philippines will continue to be maintained, sustained and grow steadily.
