41 years ago, on September 28, 1982, the Council of Ministers (now the Government) issued Decision No. 167-HDBT establishing November 20 every year as "Vietnam Teachers' Day", to honor teachers and those who have contributed to the Vietnamese education sector. Along with the education sector nationwide, over the years, the collective of managers, teachers and staff of the provincial Education and Training sector have always been united, innovative, creative, and improved the quality of comprehensive education , meeting the requirements of the "human development" cause in the new era.

With the spirit of dedicating resources to education and training development of Party committees and authorities at all levels, the effective coordination of departments, branches, sectors, organizations and the support of the people, the province's education has had remarkable and comprehensive development. The province's school network has been expanded, completed and developed throughout the province. Up to now, the whole province has 609 educational and training establishments, including 229 kindergartens; 98 primary schools; 144 primary - secondary schools; 81 secondary schools; 14 secondary - high schools; 1 primary - secondary and high school; 30 high schools; 12 continuing education centers. With a total of over 370,000 students.

The teaching staff is concerned, meeting the standards of professional titles and training standards. Currently, the province has over 23,500 managers and teachers at all levels. Of which, 21.9% of teachers have qualifications above the standard; 62% of teachers have met the standard. There are 2 associate professors, 5 doctors, 430 masters, more than 20,960 staff and teachers with university and college degrees, the rest have intermediate and other qualifications. The management staff and teachers are enthusiastic, love their jobs, basically meeting the requirements of fundamental and comprehensive educational innovation.

During the school years, teachers actively applied scientific advances to teaching and management; applied solutions on stem and steam education development; solutions to implement digital transformation in the education sector. In the 2022-2023 school year alone, the sector had 320 scientific initiatives of cadres and teachers recognized at the grassroots level; 20 initiatives were proposed to the Provincial Innovation Council for consideration and appraisal. These initiatives have been applied to management and teaching practices at schools. In the 11th Provincial Junior High School Teacher Competition for the 2022-2023 school year, 186 teachers were recognized as excellent teachers. In the 11th Provincial High School Teacher Competition in 2023, 99 teachers were recognized as excellent high school teachers at the provincial level.

Schools have effectively implemented the campaigns “Each teacher is a model of self-study and creativity”; “Democracy - Discipline - Love - Responsibility”, “Supporting education in mountainous, remote and extremely disadvantaged areas”. Qualified managers, teachers and union members have volunteered to teach, consolidate and supplement knowledge, and provide free tutoring for weak students and students in difficult circumstances, so that no student is left behind.

The emulation movements: "Innovation and creativity in management, teaching and learning"; "Innovation and improvement of the quality of key education"; "Good teaching, good learning", "Effectively implementing the improvement of education quality in a substantial and sustainable manner"; building "Friendly schools, active students" ... are implemented by schools with many solutions. In which, improving the quality of teaching and learning ensures substance, correctly assessing students' abilities. At the same time, innovating teaching methods and forms; strengthening inspection and supervision of professional activities to transfer quality at all levels, ensuring students meet the prescribed knowledge and skills standards. In the 2022-2023 school year, 905 students won prizes in the excellent student selection contest at the junior high school level; 1,181 students won prizes in the excellent high school student contest at the provincial level; 1 project won the promising prize, 1 project won the third prize at the National Science and Technology Competition. In particular, student Bui Anh Duc participated in the Road to Olympia contest and won third prize overall.

Up to now, the province has achieved the standard of universal primary and secondary education level 2; ranked 12th out of 63 provinces and cities and 5/14 provinces in the Northern midlands and mountainous region achieving the standard of universal secondary education level 2. It is the 45th out of 63 provinces and cities achieving the standard of eliminating illiteracy level 2. The IMS quality management system (QMS ISO 9001:2015 and EOMS ISO 21001:2018) of the Department of Education and Training was inspected and certified by the international certification organization French Cert of the United Kingdom on January 22, 2022. The Department of Education and Training is the first unit in the country and Southeast Asia, the 23rd unit in Asia and the 50th unit in the world to simultaneously achieve 2 certificates QMS ISO 9001:2015 and EOMS ISO 21001:2018.

Promoting the achieved results, the provincial Department of Education and Training continues to focus on improving the quality and standardizing the team of teachers and educational managers at all levels. Research and develop policies to attract and create sources of teacher recruitment and support, creating conditions for teachers to work with peace of mind. Strengthen innovation in teaching methods and positive assessment and evaluation in the direction of developing students' capacity. Focus on innovating school management and administration in the direction of promoting the initiative and flexibility of schools and the autonomy and creativity of professional groups and teachers in implementing the 2018 General Education Program. Strengthen the attraction of investment resources for education and training. Prioritize investment in facilities and teaching equipment to ensure the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program. In particular, focus on preschool and general education institutions in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Promote the attraction of socialized resources for investment in the field of education and training. Focus on implementing digital transformation and applying information technology in education and training. Continue to build a national learning infrastructure, a shared digital learning resource warehouse for the entire sector, including e-lectures, multimedia digital learning materials, e-textbooks, simulation software and other learning materials; develop an online question bank system for subjects; deploy a platform to provide online courses. Promoting the emulation movement "Innovation and creativity in management, teaching and learning", Son La Education sector continues to unite, innovate, create, strive to improve the quality of education, equip knowledge foundations for generations of students, contributing to building high-quality human resources for the province.
