Overcoming difficulties to move forward

Established in October 2023, Dang Dung LB Company Limited, located in Vinh Dong village, has been highly appreciated by local authorities for its bold transformation of production and business methods. The company has created stable jobs for dozens of workers, fulfilled its tax obligations and actively participated in humanitarian, charitable and social security work in Lao Bao.

Previously, Mr. Dang Dung, the company director, had many years of experience in running a motorbike repair and spare parts store. Realizing that this business was difficult to develop sustainably, while the demand for packaging for agricultural products was very high, he researched the market and decided to invest in producing this product.

With accumulated capital and bank loans of more than 20 billion VND, Mr. Dung has invested in machinery, equipment, production lines, and applied advanced technology. On average, every day, the company's factory produces more than 30,000 packages containing agricultural products such as pepper, coffee, cashews, rice, and many sizes. Thanks to diverse and beautiful designs, guaranteed quality, and stable output, the products' main markets are some provinces in the Central Highlands and Laos. The company's revenue reaches nearly 20 billion VND/year.

“Currently, our company creates regular jobs for 40-50 workers, of which more than 50% are ethnic minorities, with an average income of 6-7 million VND/person/month and 100% of workers are fully covered by social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance,” Mr. Dang Dung informed.

As one of the "leading birds" of the enterprise in Lao Bao, Mr. Nguyen Huu Doai, Director of Quoc Doai Phat Company Limited (Trung Chin village), always focuses on developing the unit sustainably with a long-term vision. More than 10 years ago, realizing that there was no enterprise in the border area producing barbed wire and B40 mesh for export, Mr. Doai went to the South to learn from experience.

Returning to his hometown, he invested nearly 1 billion VND to build a factory and purchase machinery and production equipment. Business was favorable, a few years later, he continued to expand production with a factory area of more than 3,000m2, total investment capital of more than 10 billion VND.

Thanks to the favorable export through Laos and Thailand, the company's products are not in stock. In 2016, Mr. Doai continued to build 2 factories in Laos with a total area of over 2,000m2. Not only producing barbed wire and B40 mesh, he also researched and invested in machinery and equipment to produce plastic cans and bottles for export to Laos.

During the season, the company provides regular jobs for 5-6 local workers with a salary of 5-7 million VND/person/month. Quoc Doai Phat Company Limited is also one of the units actively participating in humanitarian, charity and social security work in the locality.

For sustainable business development

Currently, Lao Bao commune has 94 enterprises, contributing to creating jobs for thousands of workers in the commune and neighboring localities. Most of the enterprises have the will to overcome difficulties, innovate production and business in accordance with the market and actual situation.

However, for nearly 10 years now, businesses have faced many difficulties, especially changes in policies for border areas, which have caused investors to no longer enjoy the same incentives as before. This has reduced their attractiveness and limited production and business development. In addition, the unsynchronized infrastructure system and the planning of warehouse and logistics services have not met the needs, which has also affected investment attraction. The COVID-19 pandemic has also caused great difficulties in terms of investment capital...

Mr. Dang Dung added: “Because the company was newly established, it encountered many difficulties, especially the lack of skilled labor. Currently, we are continuing to search for and expand the market for our products, while also paying attention to training and improving the skills of our employees, meeting the production and business tasks in the new period.”

Lao Bao Commune has created the most favorable conditions for companies and enterprises to invest and develop sustainably in the area; organized activities to promote product brands, and sought output markets for enterprises, with a focus on the Lao market.

In that situation, Lao Bao Commune People's Committee has closely followed the resolutions and instructions of the superiors to manage socio -economic development in the direction of trade, services, industry and handicrafts as the foundation. From those positive activities, businesses in the area have felt secure in investing in production and maintaining development.

“In order for businesses and production establishments in the area to develop sustainably, the commune hopes that businesses will continue to make efforts to innovate and be creative in production and business to improve competitiveness, thereby creating momentum for common development. At the same time, the commune requests that all levels and sectors soon deploy the construction of the Lao Bao (Vietnam) - Densavan (Laos) Cross-Border Economic and Trade Zone,” said Chairman of Lao Bao Commune People’s Committee Tran Anh Vu.
