Foremart Vietnam Co., Ltd. (An Thi commune), a 100% South Korean-invested enterprise, specializes in manufacturing and processing garment products for export. Since mid-2024, due to market expansion and additional export orders, the company has needed to recruit nearly 250 more general laborers with attractive salaries and benefits, but has not yet been able to fill the positions.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Thuy, Head of Human Resources at Foremart Vietnam Co., Ltd., stated that although the company's benefits have increased, including a bonus of 3 million VND per referral for existing employees and 3 million VND for new employees, and two special meals per week for workers, recruitment remains difficult.
Tien Hung Joint Stock Company (located in Hoang Hoa Tham commune), specializing in processing garment products for export to the US, South Korea, and Japan, is also looking to recruit 200-300 general laborers.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thap, the company's human resources officer, in addition to attractive salaries, the company also offers many benefits for employees, such as childcare support, birthday celebrations, company trips, and holiday bonuses... to attract and retain workers. Even with a Lunar New Year bonus of 20-25 million VND per person in 2025, there were still not enough applicants.
According to experts, the reason businesses are struggling to recruit is due to a shortage of labor. Furthermore, young workers today tend to prefer dynamic, relaxed, and creative environments, and are quick to switch jobs if they feel the situation isn't a good fit. This makes it difficult for many businesses to recruit this group of workers and can lead to labor shortages, especially in the final months of the year.
Mr. Pham Tuan Anh from Long Hung commune shared: "I used to be a factory worker in Hanoi . Due to family circumstances, I moved back to my hometown in 2024 to live and work. Initially, I applied for a job as a factory worker at a shoe company, but I felt the salary wasn't commensurate with the labor I put in, so I decided to quit."
Besides the garment industry, manufacturing and export businesses in other sectors are also facing labor shortages, affecting their production and business results.
Commenting on the reasons for the difficulties in recruiting labor for her company, Ms. Nguyen Hong Hai, Head of Human Resources at Viettinak Co., Ltd., a company specializing in the production of rubber components (Thang Long II Industrial Park), said that currently in Hung Yen province and neighboring provinces, Industrial zones are developing rapidly . This creates many job options for workers, including the trend of freelance work. Although Viettinak has offered many incentives and guaranteed incomes of 7-15 million VND/person/month, the company has still not recruited enough workers for positions such as quality control and machine operation.
According to Mr. Le Van Con, Director of the Employment Service Center under the Department of Internal Affairs of Hung Yen province, the demand for labor recruitment by businesses in the first months of 2025 was very high, especially for businesses operating in the garment, footwear, and electronics sectors.
In the first six months of the year, the Center organized 18 job fairs, attracting 348 businesses and thousands of job seekers; however, many businesses still haven't recruited enough workers. Explaining this reason, Mr. Côn said that due to the large number of businesses needing to recruit, workers have many job options but lack a supply of skilled labor. In addition, some businesses have excessively high recruitment criteria and unclear recruitment policies.
According to Mr. Con, to attract and retain employees, businesses need to be transparent about job positions, salaries, bonuses, and benefits; regularly engage in dialogue and negotiate work-related matters and benefits with employees, building trust so that employees feel secure and committed to contributing to the company.
