The Kremlin on April 12 provided initial information on the organization of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in 2023.
Several businessmen from “unfriendly countries” have expressed interest in SPIEF, but the Kremlin will not reveal their identities, Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian president, told reporters on April 12.
“Even if they came to the event, we cannot talk about them,” Mr. Peskov said, adding that if the identities of these businessmen were revealed, they could be in danger.
“However, many business representatives from unfriendly countries have shown great interest,” the spokesman said when asked whether businessmen from unfriendly countries would attend Russia’s SPIEF 2023 global financial forum.
Often referred to as the “Russian Davos,” the 2023 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is scheduled to be held on June 14-17.
Traditionally, the SPIEF plenary session is attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin. As Mr. Putin has previously indicated, the labor market will be at the heart of this year's SPIEF.

SPIEF is a platform where heads of state, senior government officials, CEOs of Russian and foreign companies and researchers meet to discuss economic challenges facing Russia, developing economies and the whole world .
The Russian leader's speech at the plenary session of SPIEF 2022 – held four months after Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine – was delayed by more than 90 minutes due to distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks on the conference's systems, according to CNN.
In a speech at the 25th annual conference in the western Russian city, President Putin said the world will never be the same again, and waiting for the current chaotic changes in the world to dissipate on their own is impossible .
