Theater revenue shows signs of slowing down

According to statistics from Box Office Vietnam, the foreign film Gold Cube directed by Khuong Ngoc continued to lead the Vietnamese box office last weekend.

The film has a total revenue of 62 billion VND after 10 days of release. Although still holding the number one position, the number of screenings, revenue and ticket sales of Foreign Gold have all recorded a significant decrease compared to last week. With the current ticket sales speed, observers believe that the work is unlikely to repeat the hundred billion achievement of Sister-in-law , the previous project of director Khuong Ngoc.

Ranked second on the box office chart is The Ghost House . Including early screenings, director Truong Dung's film is earning more than 11 billion VND. Meanwhile, Thai horror film Tee Yod 3: Ghost Eater ranked third in the revenue chart last weekend, bringing the current total revenue to more than 80 billion VND. The Battle in the Sky held fourth place and approached the 250 billion VND mark.

Last week, many new movies were released such as Good Boy - Don't Be Afraid, Interview with a Murderer, Roboco and I: Super Multiverse, The Third Party's Snake Technique ... However, the market in general showed signs of slowing down, new works did not create outstanding effects, and revenue was low.

On Halloween (October 31), the box office will witness competition between 3 Vietnamese films released on the same day: Grave Reconstruction , Mother's Birthday Crashers and Blindfolded . In addition, the market will also welcome foreign films Secret After the Party (US, suspense genre) and Black Phone 2 (US, horror genre).

Mr. Nguyen Khanh Duong, founder of Box Office Vietnam , believes that when released at the same time, Vietnamese films have a higher chance of competing with foreign films. "However, the ability to achieve high revenue will be a bit difficult. There is no longer a long holiday, the audience is somewhat "full" of Vietnamese films. If the new works are not truly outstanding in terms of theme and content, it will be very difficult to reach the hundred billion mark," he said.
