Visiting Hung Lo ancient village

Hung Lo Ancient Village, located in Hung Lo Commune along the tranquil Lo River, is one of the prominent destinations for community-based cultural tourism. The first place visitors can explore is the historical and cultural site of Xom Temple - Hung Lo Temple, with its ancient architecture, numerous decorative motifs associated with the Hung King era, and the preservation of many valuable artifacts, most notably five gilded palanquins and festival inscriptions dating back over 300 years. In addition, there are 50 ancient houses, some hundreds of years old, that perfectly retain the architectural and cultural features of a traditional village full of unique character.

In 2021, the Provincial People's Committee recognized Hung Lo as a community-based cultural tourism destination, opening up the potential for exploiting its unique historical and cultural values ​​to develop tourism. Visiting Hung Lo, tourists can not only explore and admire the ancient architectural structures of the old Vietnamese countryside, but also participate in activities steeped in tradition. Here, visitors can enjoy performances of Xoan singing – an intangible cultural heritage of humanity; experience traditional crafts such as the production of noodles, wrapping banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), making banh da (rice crackers), and visit the local market... These are not only traditional crafts that provide income for families but are also gradually becoming high-quality tourism products with a distinct cultural character for the ancient village.

In 2022, Hung Lo community tourism was honored to be recognized as a 3-star OCOP product at the provincial level, contributing to boosting economic value, creating job opportunities, and increasing income for the local community. To date, the Hung Lo Community Tourism and Service Cooperative, with 17 members, has continuously improved and developed its services to meet the increasingly high demands of domestic and international tourists. According to statistics, in 2024, this tourist destination welcomed nearly 16,000 visitors, including international tourists, marking a significant leap forward in community tourism development here.

The Bach Hac community cultural tourism site in Bach Hac ward began operating and serving domestic and international tourists in 2015, becoming the first destination to welcome international river tourism groups on their journey to experience the ancestral land.

Community-based tourism in Bach Hac is a destination with rich potential and diverse cultural aspects, including spiritual and cultural tourism, scenic tourism (such as visiting the Dai Bi Pagoda complex, Tam Giang communal house and temple, and the Hac Three-Way Junction scenic spot), experiential activities (such as boat trips and the sacred water procession ceremony at the three-way junction), folk games, and cultural and artistic performances during festivals.

Currently, the ward has 6 clusters of valuable historical and cultural relics, including 1 site classified as a national historical relic and 5 sites classified as provincial historical relics. This cultural feature offers a unique experience for tourists. These activities not only enrich the cultural identity of Bach Hac but also create opportunities for local people to increase their income through providing tourism services.

In 2023, Bach Hac Community Cultural Tourism Site was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a provincial-level tourist destination, contributing to the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values ​​of the ancestral land region, while also exploiting and promoting the unique ecological and community cultural values ​​of the area to serve tourism development effectively and sustainably, becoming one of the key destinations of the city.

Thanks to the appeal of its unique cultural tourism products, in 2024, Bach Hac attracted over 15,000 visitors, helping to increase income, improve the lives of local people, and enhance the urban landscape, contributing to sustainable socio-economic development.
