( Bqp.vn ) - With the desire to bring joy to poor children in the Abyei region and introduce the beauty of Vietnamese culture to international friends, on September 16 (local time), the Vietnam Engineering Team No. 2 participating in the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKO) in the Abyei region organized the program "Happy Mid-Autumn Festival" for nearly 200 students at Abyei Church School.

At the program, poor children in the area were introduced to the meaning of the Mid-Autumn Festival in Eastern culture in general and Vietnam in particular; introduced to the legend of Hang Nga, the banyan tree, and Cuoi through animated video clips in English; participated in group dance and singing performances, carried star lanterns, played Vietnamese folk games, and enjoyed the Mid-Autumn Festival feast...

According to Major Nguyen Mau Vu, Political Commissar of the Vietnam Engineering Corps No. 2, through the program “Happy Mid-Autumn Festival”, the unit hopes to bring warm feelings to African children. “Vietnamese “blue beret” soldiers have become a part of the Abyei community and always want to help this land as much as possible. We hope this is an opportunity for disadvantaged children in Abyei to feel the care, love and attachment of the community around them” - Major Nguyen Mau Vu emphasized.

Directly attending and sharing the Mid-Autumn Festival with poor children, Principal of Abyei Church School Catherine emotionally shared: “The children were very happy and joyful to attend today's program. Even though you came from a foreign country, with a different culture, you made them feel the love without distance. Thank you, brothers and sisters of the Engineering Team! Thank you, Vietnam!”
Engineer Team No. 2 presents gifts to outstanding students in Abyei.
On this occasion, the 2nd Engineering Team presented bookshelves, toys, and notebooks to Abyei Church School; and presented gifts to 10 outstanding students who passed the university entrance exam in Abyei last year.
