"The team needs to recruit a central defender, a midfielder to replace Otavio and a winger. Laporte will leave and we are considering alternative options," coach Jesus shared on July 30.
Al Nassr had previously hoped to sign defender David Hancko, but the player has decided to join Atletico Madrid.
AS says Laporte is likely to return to his former club Athletic Bilbao this summer. Al Nassr will facilitate Laporte's departure on a free transfer.
Laporte is currently training in the gym and with the reserve team. However, his €25 million salary is a big obstacle for Bilbao.
Laporte joined Al Nassr in August 2023 for a fee of 25 million euros. He immediately became a mainstay of the Saudi Arabian club, but was unable to help his parent team compete for titles.
After winning Euro 2024 with Spain, Laporte hoped to return to Europe to play last summer. However, he decided to continue with Al Nassr and leave this summer.
