With the theme “Data science and new technology in ecosystem monitoring and protection”, the workshop aims to share research results, apply new technologies and find solutions to improve conservation efficiency in the context of digital transformation.
This activity also contributes to the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on "Breakthrough in science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation".
The Central Highlands region holds a particularly important position in Vietnam's ecosystem, a convergence of many unique ecologies, terrains and climates, containing many rare and endemic species of flora and fauna.
However, in the context of global climate change, pressure from economic development, urbanization and resource exploitation, the region's biodiversity is rapidly declining, and many rare wild animals and plants are facing the risk of extinction.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phuc, Permanent Vice President of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Da Nang City said: “To solve this challenge, the application of data science, digital technology and artificial intelligence has become an inevitable trend. Technology contributes to monitoring the evolution of ecosystems, identifying species, analyzing behavior and forecasting environmental risks with high accuracy and reasonable cost, saving human resources and time”.
The presentations focused on the trend of applying data science and modern technology to monitor resources and ecosystems such as: SMART software - a tool to help standardize the recording, analysis and reporting of forest patrol data; unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) combined with artificial intelligence (AI), supporting monitoring of forest resource developments and wildlife investigations with high accuracy; camera trap technology and radio telemetry in animal research; Drones integrated with thermal infrared sensors (TIR)...
Through the research results, scientists, experts and management agencies discussed the direction for conservation work in the technological era. At the same time, the workshop emphasized the role of regional linkages and community engagement, a factor ensuring the sustainability of conservation programs.
This will be an important foundation for biodiversity conservation, suitable for Vietnam's conditions, while contributing to preserving the precious natural values of the Central Highlands.
