Innovation in thinking, building a modern working class in the new era

(Chinhphu.vn) - The first Congress of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for the 2025-2030 term took place on the afternoon of August 19 with the theme: "Building a clean and strong Party Committee; renewing thinking and vision; contributing to building a modern and strong working class in the new era.

At the 1st Congress of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for the 2025-2030 term held on the afternoon of August 19, the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and central organizations appointed the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for the 2025-2030 term.

Accordingly, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front , Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang holds the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for the 2025-2030 term.

With the theme: "Building a clean and strong Party organization; renewing thinking and vision; contributing to building a modern and strong working class in the new era" and the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development", the Congress has the task of evaluating the results of the 2020-2025 term; setting out directions, goals, tasks and solutions for the 2025-2030 term and discussing and contributing opinions to the draft documents of the Congress of Delegates of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central mass organizations and the 14th National Congress of the Party.

In his opening speech, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang said: The first Congress of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is an important political event, marking the development of the Party Committee in a new period.

"Entering the new term, the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is facing many opportunities and advantages, but also many difficulties and challenges. Based on an objective and comprehensive assessment of the situation, with the motto of action 'Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development', the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor sets out the orientation for construction and development in the next 5 years: Building a clean and strong Party Committee; renewing thinking and vision; contributing to building a modern and strong working class in the new era", Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized.

At the Congress, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien proposed that the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, together with the Trade Union, streamline the apparatus according to Resolution 18, shifting from mainly leading Party affairs to comprehensively leading political tasks, and shifting from an independent organization to operating under the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Therefore, Mr. Do Van Chien requested that first of all, it is necessary to carry out political and ideological work well. Each cadre, party member, civil servant, public employee, and worker must be clear-minded and have high consensus in will and action.

Reviewing the outstanding achievements of the Party Committee of the General Confederation of Labor in the past term, comrade Do Van Chien said: The General Confederation of Labor has gathered and mobilized union members, workers, laborers, the entire people, the entire army, the entire political system, and the entire society to overcome the difficult and arduous days, prevent and defeat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The work of caring for, supporting, and improving the material and spiritual life of union members and workers has received special attention with many new and creative approaches and has been highly appreciated by public opinion.

In addition, the Party Committee of the General Confederation of Labor has led the review and development of institutions and policies, creating a solid political and legal basis for the operation of trade unions; and implementing the arrangement and streamlining of the organizational apparatus.

Typically, advising the Politburo to issue Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW, dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on innovating the organization and operation of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation; submitting to the National Assembly at the 8th Session to pass the Trade Union Law (amended); proactively and actively participating in amending and supplementing a number of articles of the 2013 Constitution; the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Trade Union Law, the Youth Law and the Law on Implementing Democracy at the Grassroots Level.

At the Congress, delegates heard Decision No. 370-QD/ĐUMTTQ, CDTW of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and central organizations appointing the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Secretary, and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for the 2025-2030 term.

According to the decision, the number of members of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term is 29-33 comrades, currently 21 comrades are appointed (8-12 comrades will be added later).
