On March 28, the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Conservation Support Fund, the Department of Culture of Vietnam's Ethnic Groups, the CDIT Institute of Information and Communications Technology, and the Tik Tok platform launched the campaign "Innovation and Heritage Preservation in the Digital World ". The campaign aims to encourage the participation of TikTok content creators and the user community to create content related to the country's cultural heritage.

This campaign is not just about digitizing data, but also "telling stories" about heritage in the language of technology. Hashtag challenge #DiSanVietNam, virtual reality VR, vivid footage from content creators... are the "weapons" used to conquer Generation Z - young people who grew up with the Internet.
However, the digitization of heritage also raises big questions: Can technology fully convey the spiritual value of heritage? Will the renewal of heritage lead to the loss of heritage?
Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Tru, Chairman of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, affirmed: "The combination of technology will help heritage become more vivid and closer to the public, especially the younger generation." However, he also warned about the risk of heritage distortion if there is no strict control. "We need to ensure that technology does not destroy the original identity of heritage."

Proposing many ideas for the Vietnam heritage campaign, content creator Ngo Thi Quynh Giao (Tiktoker Giao Cun) said: “People often think that creating content about culture and history must be absolutely accurate, sometimes harsh on young people pursuing this field. Giao hopes that people will have a more open view, creating motivation for them to dare to step into this challenging path.
Giao also hopes that, through this event, TikTok can support the organization of many seminars, where TikTokers can listen to and exchange with researchers - people who have a deep understanding of Vietnamese culture and history, to receive guidance and advice to help their content become more popular and develop."
According to content creator Duc Anh, young people now have the habit of looking up tourist destinations on TikTok: “Duc Anh hopes that local departments and agencies will organize more activities, not only for those participating in the campaign but also for young people in their hometown, helping to spread the value of cultural heritage.
When young people living in heritage-rich localities make videos promoting landscapes and typical cuisine, they not only introduce the beauty of their homeland but also attract widespread attention, contributing to preserving and promoting local cultural values in the digital age."

With millions of young users, TikTok is expected to become an extension of bringing heritage to the public. Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh, representative of TikTok Vietnam, said: "We believe that the young generation will be pioneers in spreading heritage values, connecting the past with the present and inspiring the domestic and international community. The content you create will be widely spread on TikTok under a common hashtag, Vietnamese Heritage, helping users easily learn and explore the beauty of our country's cultural heritage."
Along with great opportunities, digitizing heritage also poses many challenges, especially the issue of authenticity and practical value when heritage is put on digital platforms. Without strict control, the new approach can cause heritage to gradually lose its original identity. This requires close coordination between cultural experts, content creators and technology platforms to ensure the accuracy and practical value of digital heritage content.
With the cooperation between cultural organizations and technology platforms, "Innovation and Heritage Preservation in the Digital World" is an important step forward, contributing to raising public awareness and bringing Vietnamese heritage further on the world map.
