Changes in Pu Dua

The literacy class in Pu Dua village is taught by officers from Quang Chieu Border Guard Station.

More than 7km from the center of Quang Chieu commune, Pu Dua - a Mong ethnic village with 75 households and 402 people, the lives of the people here are almost "separated" from the outside world. Hunger, poverty, and backwardness constantly surround and cling to them.

Mr. Lau Van Po, head of Pu Dua village, said: "Pu Dua village has 75 households, 100% of which are poor. Previously, the road from the village to the district and commune center was just a winding, precarious forest road. During the rainy season, the road was muddy and slippery, making transportation extremely difficult. The most difficult thing was when people got sick and had to walk to the commune health station for hours, and people's lives were lacking in many ways."

In order to change the mindset, awareness, and improve the living standards of the Mong people in Pu Dua village, Quang Chieu commune has propagated, disseminated, and educated the law, mobilized people to reclaim land, abandon outdated and outdated farming methods, and replace them with new production methods. Applying scientific and technological advances in agriculture, introducing N97 sticky rice variety into pilot planting. At the same time, investing in seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and training in rice production techniques for people. Thanks to the results, up to now, 100% of people in the village grow this rice variety, thereby helping people change their farming practices, gradually increase their income, and stabilize their lives.

Quang Chieu Border Guard Station opened a class to eliminate illiteracy and prevent re-illiteracy in Pu Dua village, Quang Chieu commune (Muong Lat).

In order to help people improve their lives, Quang Chieu Border Guard Station has implemented the model "Bright Border Village", gradually changing the appearance of this place. After more than 6 months of implementation, the model has brought about positive changes. Quang Chieu Border Guard Station coordinated with local authorities to concretize more than 200m of internal village roads, mobilized people to renovate their houses, maintain environmental sanitation and develop livestock models, helping people have more stable income. Since Quang Chieu Border Guard Station's Party members came to participate in activities, Pu Dua village has received a lot of practical and useful information. The quality of activities and the results of the Party cell's leadership in implementing its tasks have been significantly improved. At Party cell meetings, Party members in the village actively exchanged and discussed the key tasks that the village is implementing. The border guard party members who participate in activities and are directly responsible for families in the village have promoted their role, contributing to promoting economic development, poverty reduction, building cultural villages and new rural areas. Or they have propagated and mobilized people in the village to boldly change the structure of crops and livestock, improving their lives.

In addition, officers and soldiers of Quang Chieu Border Guard Station have opened and maintained literacy classes for nearly 40 students who are local people, helping them access science and technology, creating opportunities to escape poverty sustainably. The roads into the village are now cleaner and more spacious, and the people have gradually changed their thinking and ways of doing things, gradually rising up to build a new life.
