The literacy class in Pù Đứa village is taught by officers from the Quang Chiểu Border Guard Post.
Located more than 7km from the center of Quang Chieu commune, Pu Dua is a Mong ethnic minority village with 75 households and 402 inhabitants. The lives of the people here are almost "isolated" from the outside world . Hunger, poverty, and backwardness constantly surround and cling to them.
Mr. Lau Van Po, head of Pu Dua village, said: "Pu Dua village has 75 households, and 100% of them are poor. Previously, the road from the village to the district and commune centers was just a winding, precarious forest path. During the rainy season, the road became muddy and slippery, making transportation extremely difficult. The most challenging thing was that whenever people were sick, they had to walk for hours to the commune's health station. The people's lives were full of hardships."
To change mindsets and improve the living standards of the Mong ethnic minority people in Pu Dua village, Quang Chieu commune has propagated and educated them on the law, encouraged them to reclaim land, abandon outdated farming methods, and replace them with new production methods. They have applied scientific and technological advancements in agriculture , introducing the N97 glutinous rice variety for trial cultivation. Simultaneously, they have invested in seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and provided training on rice cultivation techniques for the villagers. Thanks to the positive results, 100% of the villagers now cultivate this rice variety, helping them change their farming practices, gradually increase their income, and stabilize their lives.
Quang Chieu Border Guard Station inaugurates a literacy class to prevent relapse into illiteracy in Pu Dua village, Quang Chieu commune (Muong Lat district).
To help improve the lives of the local people, the Quang Chieu Border Guard Post has implemented the "Bright Village in the Border Region" model, gradually changing the appearance of the area. After more than 6 months of implementation, the model has brought about positive changes. The Quang Chieu Border Guard Post, in coordination with the local government, has concreted more than 200 meters of internal village roads, mobilized the people to renovate their houses, maintain environmental hygiene, and develop livestock farming models, helping people to have more stable income. Since the Party members from the Quang Chieu Border Guard Post joined the activities, Pu Dua village has received much practical and useful information. The quality of activities and the results of leadership in carrying out tasks of the Party branch have improved significantly. At Party branch meetings, Party members in the village actively exchange and discuss the key tasks that the village is implementing. Party members from border guard posts, participating in community activities and directly overseeing families in the villages, have played a crucial role in promoting economic development, poverty reduction, and the construction of cultural villages and new rural areas. They have also actively propagated and encouraged villagers to boldly change their crop and livestock structures, thereby improving their living standards.
In addition, officers and soldiers of the Quang Chieu Border Guard Post have opened and maintained literacy classes for nearly 40 students from the village, helping them access science and technology and creating opportunities for sustainable poverty alleviation. The roads leading to the village are now cleaner and more spacious, and the people are gradually changing their way of thinking and doing things, step by step striving to build a new life.
