Dialogue on digital transformation in journalism

From June 1-3, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Australian Consulate General, in collaboration with the International Cooperation Department of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), organized a workshop on the theme "Dialogue on Digital Transformation in Journalism." Nearly 30 reporters and editors from media outlets based in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta region attended.

The dialogue workshop on digital transformation in journalism is part of the "Digital Media in Southeast Asia" program, implemented by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and ABC, aiming to enhance the exchange of experiences, share knowledge, and support journalists in adapting to the digital media environment.

Within the framework of the program, participants will learn about fake news, misinformation, trust in the media, constructive journalism, AI ethical frameworks, AI applications in journalism, and mobile journalism (MoJo). In addition, participants will visit two Australian companies investing in Vietnam to gain practical experience for their journalistic work.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Kate Wallace, Consul General of Australia in Ho Chi Minh City, stated that the global media industry is undergoing profound changes driven by digital platforms, artificial intelligence (AI), and shifts in public information consumption habits. This poses numerous challenges for news organizations, ranging from addressing misinformation to the need for innovative methods of content production and distribution.
