The Thai women's team suffered a heavy 1-10 defeat against South Korea.

In the second round of the 2024 Olympic qualifiers, the Thai women's team was drawn into a very difficult group with China, North Korea, and South Korea. In their opening match, the team from the Land of Smiles felt the harsh reality, suffering a heavy 1-10 defeat against South Korea.

This was a match where Thailand only played well for 33 minutes. They brilliantly neutralized South Korea's attacks. However, they couldn't withstand the immense pressure from the South Korean team and collapsed in a disastrous way.

In the 33rd minute, from a central attack, Casey Phair controlled the ball and fired a low shot, giving South Korea the lead. Within the next six minutes, Thailand conceded two more goals. Chun Ga Ram (36th minute) and Kang Chae Rim (39th minute) scored to give South Korea a 3-0 lead in the first half.

In the second half, the "War Elephants" faced a real nightmare. In the 48th minute, Chun Ga Ram curled the ball into the top corner, giving South Korea a 4-0 lead. Four minutes later, Kang Chae Rim tapped the ball into the net with her thigh, making it 5-0.

Thailand collapsed after conceding a series of goals. Within 10 minutes, they conceded five more goals: Casey (66th and 70th minutes), Lee Geun Min (68th minute), Moon Mi Ra (72nd minute), and Chun Ga Ram (75th minute).

The Southeast Asian team only managed a consolation goal through Muldong in the third minute of added time. The match ended with a 10-1 victory for the South Korean women's team.

In their next two matches, Thailand will face two more formidable challenges against China and North Korea. If they don't improve their performance, the "War Elephants" could suffer further heavy defeats.

Meanwhile, in Group A, the Philippines convincingly defeated Taiwan (China) 4-1 in their opening match. The other two opponents in this group are Iran and Australia. The Philippines have a good chance of advancing to the third round of qualifiers.

At 7:00 PM tonight, the Vietnamese women's national team will play their opening match in the 2024 Olympic qualifiers against Uzbekistan.
