Vietnam Triathlon raises target at SEA Games 33
At the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, the Vietnamese triathlon team (3 events: swimming - cycling - running) won 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal. The goal set for the Vietnamese triathlon at the 33rd SEA Games (Thailand) is to achieve a higher result than the first competition.
Mr. Le Hong Minh - Chairman of the Vietnam Triathlon Federation (VTRIF), Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of VNG - said that to encourage the athletes, VTRIF will give a bonus of 50 million VND for each gold medal, 30 million VND for silver medal and 15 million VND for bronze medal.
VTRIF Vice President Nguyen Anh Tuan commented: “This year’s team brings together both experience and youth. We have to carefully calculate and arrange the team, because all the athletes on the team are Vietnamese, while other countries have naturalized athletes.”

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan also shared about the long-term vision: “In the Philippines, triathlon is a key national competition, athletes are willing to refuse other teams to compete in triathlon. If you want to quickly, you can naturalize athletes, but this is not a sustainable way.
From grassroots competitions like Iron Kid, Trifecta Kid, to bringing triathlon to schools, in the next 5-10 years Vietnam promises to build a generation of quality young athletes. Like today's squad, many were born after 2000, some are only 16 years old and 12-13 year olds are training to become the next faces."
Within the framework of the event, VTRIF also announced the official competition uniform of the national team produced and sponsored by the MOTIVE brand.

VTRIF is expected to create a strong boost for the triathlon movement.

VTRIF was officially established by the decision of the Ministry of Home Affairs on January 10, 2024. The first term Standing Committee includes Mr. Le Hong Minh (Chairman of VNG) as Chairman and Ms. Nguyen Thu Phuong (Vietnam Sports Administration) as Secretary General.
Vietnam's goal is to join the World Triathlon Federation, opening up international training and competition opportunities for athletes, contributing to making this special sport one of the spearheads of Vietnamese sports.
In addition to its role as a companion with the Vietnam Triathlon Federation, VNG is also the pioneer in bringing the Iron Man 70.3 tournament, a globally famous triathlon competition, to Vietnam and has accompanied it for many years as a strategic sponsor.
