In the Asian rankings, Japan continues to lead, ranked 18th in the world ; Iran and South Korea ranked second and third respectively. The Vietnamese team holds the 20th position in Asia and is second in Southeast Asia, after Thailand.
The increase in ranking is considered a spiritual motivation for the Vietnamese team in the preparation phase for the important tasks ahead. This result contributes to consolidating the position of Vietnamese football in the region, at the same time bringing an optimistic signal to fans as the team is striving to improve its performance and move towards its long-term goals.

FIFA announced the rankings earlier than usual to serve the 2026 World Cup play-off draw, which took place on the evening of November 20 (Vietnam time). Due to the urgent update time, some friendly matches and qualifiers that took place close to the announcement date were not counted, leading to fluctuations in the rankings of many teams, mainly due to the increase or decrease in scores of surrounding teams.
According to the November rankings, Tanzania and Kenya were deducted points and dropped down the rankings, helping Vietnam and some other teams improve their positions. Laos also moved up one place, to 187th in the world.
Southeast Asia saw some notable changes. Thailand moved up one place to 95th in the world after two wins over Singapore and Sri Lanka. Malaysia moved up two places to 116th after a 1-0 win over Nepal. Singapore made a mark by qualifying for the Asian Cup finals for the first time and moved up four places to 151st. The Philippines moved up five places to 136th despite not qualifying for the finals.
Some teams that kept their rankings include Indonesia (122), Myanmar (163) and Cambodia (179). Timor-Leste and Brunei are the only two teams that dropped in the region.
In the world rankings, the Spanish team continues to lead. Argentina is second, while France holds third place.
