On this occasion, VNA reporters in Brussels talked with Ms. Dao Hong Hai, owner of the Hanoi Station restaurant chain and General Secretary of the Vietnamese Business Association in Belgium, to record her thoughts and expectations from the perspective of an intellectual and businesswoman of Vietnamese origin living and working in Europe.
According to Ms. Hai, Vietnam's potential is enormous, first of all thanks to its young, abundant and enthusiastic workforce. This is an advantage that not every country has. Vietnam also owns a large, dynamic market, where young businesses are increasingly agile and keep up with the trend of innovation. These factors create a special attraction for international businesses, as well as the overseas Vietnamese community who are always looking for an investment environment that is both rich in opportunities and emotionally and responsibly attached.
In particular, Resolution 68-NQ/TW on private economic development is considered by Ms. Hai to be a correct and timely step, demonstrating a strategic vision, showing that Vietnam is not only changing on the surface, but is actually undergoing a transformation from within, a change of core nature. For European businesses, this is an important signal, affirming that Vietnam is ready to deeply integrate, open to receive global investment capital, technology and knowledge.
From a connectivity perspective, Ms. Hai believes that the economic sectors in which Belgian and European businesses have strengths are also those in which Vietnam is interested and has great demand. These are seaports, renewable energy, high technology and biotechnology, high-quality healthcare and education, as well as advanced technology agriculture .
These areas not only meet the sustainable development trend but are also in line with Vietnam's long-term strategy. The complementary strengths and needs of both sides create opportunities for practical cooperation, where experience and resources from Belgium can accompany Vietnam in solving outstanding challenges and at the same time creating new values.
Ms. Hai emphasized that to promote effective connectivity, Vietnam and Europe need to create more space for in-depth exchanges and dialogue. Dialogues focusing on specific areas such as seaports or corporate culture will help both sides better understand the needs and ways to cooperate. According to her, corporate culture is an important foundation for sustainable development, not only in the organization of production and business, but also in the way businesses care for their employees, ensuring long-term commitment and building strong trust.
However, besides these open prospects, there are still concerns that the overseas business community and European partners cannot ignore. Administrative procedures in Vietnam are still not really quick compared to European expectations. The legal framework sometimes has many barriers that make foreign investors hesitant. In addition, cultural differences and concerns about the reliability of official information also make many businesses cautious when approaching the Vietnamese market.
However, Ms. Hai believes that with the steady progress in reform, especially in the digital transformation process that the Vietnamese Government is striving to implement, these barriers will soon be removed. When the obstacles are resolved, Vietnam will not only become a more attractive destination for international private enterprises, but also create a favorable environment for domestic enterprises to develop sustainably. And on that journey, the companionship of the overseas Vietnamese community and foreign investors will be a vivid demonstration of the aspiration to rise up, so that the private economy can truly become a lever to take Vietnam further in the integration flow of the 21st century.
