Family time

Unlike normal days, the two days off on April 30 and May 1 of Ms. Lai Thi Tay Phuong's family, Chairwoman of the Labor Union of Son Ha Hue Company Limited, were very meaningful. She and her husband did not have to rush for a new working day, and her children did not have to worry about getting to school on time. Early in the morning of April 30, the whole family woke up early to watch the online parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day; then, they went to entertainment centers together to fully enjoy the holiday.

Ms. Phuong shared: "I want my child to feel the atmosphere of celebration everywhere, to be more proud and motivated to study, to become a useful person for society."

Ms. Lai Thi Phuong Tay's family took the opportunity to take their children out.

In order to deliver orders to partners on time, her company only had two main holidays off, April 30 and May 1, so her family chose to go on a trip near home to make it easier to return to work. Although they did not go far, the family members still felt the holiday was very complete. “On this occasion, the company rewards employees from 300,000 to more than 1 million VND, depending on their level of contribution, with priority given to direct workers. All employees are very excited to receive the company's attention,” said the union chairwoman.  

Le Thi Hong Thanh and her husband also spent the entire holiday with their two young children. Thanh shared that her husband works in the North and comes home once every few months. “My children always look forward to big holidays so they can be together. For me, just a few holidays and the whole family can eat together is the happiest thing,” she said.

Having two days off for the holiday, the employees of Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company are very happy. Ms. Ngo Phuong Lan, a worker at Factory 1, confided: “In the context of economic difficulties, I do not think about taking a lot or a little time off, I just hope to have a steady job and a stable income. During the two days off, I take my children to visit their grandparents, have a family meal and then return to work. The children study, my husband and I go to the sewing line.”

Son Ha Hue Company Limited employees enjoy their holidays

Sharing about the production plan and taking care of employees during this time, Mr. Nguyen Tien Hau, Deputy General Director and Chairman of the Trade Union of Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company, said that the company is entering the peak of the competition to complete export orders to the US in the context of many market fluctuations in taxes. Therefore, the company arranges a reasonable holiday schedule, both ensuring the rights of employees and ensuring production. In addition, each employee is supported by the company with a spiritual incentive, as a thank you for accompanying and sticking with the company during this important period.

Take advantage of extra work

The holiday of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Uyen's family, a worker at SCAVI Hue Company, was also filled with joy and happiness. From early morning, the couple went to the market and prepared a sumptuous meal. "The company took two days off for this holiday. On the first day, the whole family ate and went out, and on the second day, my husband and I took the opportunity to do some gardening," Ms. Uyen said.

Uyen and her husband are both workers. In addition to working at the factory, they also use their free time to garden to increase their income. She grows vegetables and makes a thousand bags of oyster mushrooms, while her husband takes care of bonsai trees. “Being able to gather together, work and talk, that is happiness,” she shared.  

On the occasion of April 30 and May 1 this year, all employees of MSV Company Limited (Phu Bai Industrial Park) had 5 days off. Everyone chose their own way to take a break. For Ms. Le Thi Dieu, every day off is carefully planned. “I spend one day taking my child around Hue, the rest of the time I sell online,” she said while packing goods to send to customers. “This is a part-time job I have been doing for many years. On normal days, I don’t have time to deliver, holidays are the time to collect and return orders.”

During the holiday, Nguyen Thi Thu Uyen and her children take care of the vegetable garden.

Meanwhile, many young workers form small groups, inviting each other to go on short trips , exploring historical and cultural sites in the area.

Mr. Hoang Trong Lam, Head of the Department of Legal Policy - Labor Relations, Hue City Labor Federation (LWF) said: On the occasion of April 30 and May 1 this year, most manufacturing enterprises arranged for employees to have two days off according to regulations. However, depending on the production situation, many enterprises still give longer days off.

“To help employees enjoy more benefits than the law, every year, the City Labor Federation guides trade unions at enterprises to negotiate with employers to increase the number of days off and have a bonus policy for employees. Many grassroots trade unions have included this content in collective labor agreements. Thanks to that, on this holiday, many enterprises have given longer holidays and holiday bonuses, encouraging employees to work harder and be more committed to the enterprise,” said Mr. Hoang Trong Lam.
