The driving force for Van Don to take off

As one of the 13 special economic zones in the country, Van Don Special Economic Zone is expected to become a national maritime economic “lighthouse”, reaching the regional level. Welcoming the new opportunity, Van Don International Airport has proactively linked and cooperated with large units and corporations in the tourism and service sectors. At the same time, developing new flight routes, maximizing the efficiency of invested infrastructure.

Van Don International Airport and Crystal Holidays Holdings Joint Stock Company (part of Everland Group) signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

To promote infrastructure and attract tourists to Van Don, Van Don International Airport recently signed a cooperation agreement with Crystal Holidays Holdings Joint Stock Company, the owner of a smart tourism ecosystem with a comprehensive service platform including a closed service chain from travel, transportation, accommodation to tourism utilities. This is considered an important "lever" to promote the tourism and service industry in Van Don special economic zone to develop strongly in the future.

Through this cooperation, the two sides will jointly develop integrated tourism - aviation product packages, organize international commercial and charter flights associated with accommodation, exploration and entertainment services in Van Don special economic zone and Bai Tu Long bay; at the same time, build a closed experience journey from "in the air - under the sea - on the land" for tourists. The two sides will coordinate to implement joint marketing and promotion campaigns, promotion programs, stimulus programs, etc.

Mr. Hoang Van Dung, Director of Van Don International Airport, said: In the coming time, the unit will continue to improve service quality, renovate and upgrade infrastructure to meet the requirements of partners; share flight costs with partners to bring the best prices to customers. In addition, the unit actively develops new services to optimize the infrastructure at the airport. Currently, Van Don International Airport is the only unit operating a helicopter terminal in Vietnam, ready to welcome private flights to Van Don.

Previously, Sun PhuQuoc Airways had planned to locate its main operating center at Van Don International Airport. This is a favorable condition to promote the efficiency of the invested infrastructure, opening up opportunities to develop the aircraft system and new routes to and from Van Don International Airport. It is expected that Van Don International Airport will operate charter flight packages to Korea, China, Japan, and reconnect domestic routes to Da Nang and Phu Quoc.

Currently, Van Don International Airport operates the Van Don - Ho Chi Minh City route of two airlines, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air. Since the beginning of the year, the airport has welcomed nearly 400 flights, with a total of over 50,000 passengers. In its operation plan, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to open ticket sales at the end of October this year.

Van Don is facing new opportunities when it becomes a special economic zone under Quang Ninh province. Along with synchronous transport infrastructure, from the highway system to the seaport and international airport, Van Don has so far welcomed a strong "wave" of investment with more than 60 off-budget projects, with a total registered capital of about 63,000 billion VND. Notably, at the end of June, the Prime Minister issued Document No. 1395/QD-TTg deciding on the investment policy of a high-end complex service tourism area in Van Don with a minimum investment capital of 2 billion USD. These projects not only bring a new, more modern and synchronous look to Van Don, but also consolidate the advantages to make this place the most developed economic zone in the Northern region.

Mr. Dao Van Vu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Don Special Economic Zone, shared: Van Don possesses great potential for economic development. To promote and attract investment from large enterprises and corporations, the locality is making efforts to build socio-economic development plans associated with the local potential and space; continue to perfect the legal framework, and reform administration more strongly to create an open, transparent and stable business environment. The locality is ready to accompany investors, proactively remove difficulties and obstacles so that project works can be implemented on schedule and in accordance with the law.

The connection, strategic cooperation, and investment attraction in Van Don are taking place more and more strongly, contributing to the excitement of trade and service activities, thereby positively contributing to the economic growth of the locality. At the same time, gradually turning Van Don special economic zone into a modern multi-sector economic zone, integrating many fields, a modern aviation gateway, attracting domestic and foreign tourists to Van Don.
