Visiting the economic model of growing longan and lychee of Mr. Lo Van Thang's family in Muong Bu commune, a typical example in the emulation movement of good farmers in production and business (SXKD) of Muong Bu commune. Mr. Thang shared: My family is growing more than 3 hectares of longan and lychee. During the growing and caring process, the Commune Farmers' Association created conditions for me to participate in training courses on grafting, proper care, pest monitoring, balanced fertilization, especially caring for trees during the flowering and fruiting stages. In addition, I also grow 2 hectares of apples and jackfruit; combine livestock raising to take advantage of agricultural by-products, reducing costs. The total family income reaches 400 million VND/year.
Mr. Vi Van Tien, Pi Tay village, Pi Toong commune, is one of the typical good business households with the model of raising pigs for reproduction. Thanks to boldly applying new techniques, investing in barns, and choosing quality breeds, his family earns over 300 million VND each year. Mr. Tien said: Before, I raised pigs on a small scale, with low efficiency and unstable output. But since receiving support from the Farmers' Association for loans, I have expanded the scale, invested in building solid barns, and selected good breeds. Raising pigs is important in proper care and disease prevention techniques and must closely monitor each stage of development.
In addition to household models, many farmer members have also established agricultural cooperatives to produce high-quality agricultural products to meet market demand. Typically, Hoa An Toan Cooperative in Ngoc Chien Commune, Chieng Lao Stone Honey Cooperative, Hung Thinh Cooperative in Muong Bu or Thanh Cong Cooperative with OCOP-standard sticky rice products... Not only increasing members' income, cooperatives also create stable jobs for rural workers, contributing to shaping a sustainable direction in collective economic development, gradually building a value chain for local agricultural products.
Muong La District Farmers' Association currently has over 14,700 members, operating in 195 branches. In 2024, 213 households achieved the title of excellent farmers in production and business at the provincial level. Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Chairman of Muong La District Farmers' Association, said: The emulation movement has encouraged the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance among members. Many member households have proactively shared resources, experiences and directly supported disadvantaged households in many forms such as supporting interest-free loans, giving seedlings, livestock, instructing on effective farming techniques, etc., helping poor households overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
The District Farmers' Association has organized training courses to transfer scientific and technical advances; supported capital sources for farmers to develop the economy. Up to now, the Association has been entrusted with the District Social Policy Bank Transaction Office to lend capital to more than 3,000 members to develop production, with a total outstanding loan of over 144 billion VND. At the same time, it has replicated typical advanced models suitable for each grassroots association; organized learning, replicated typical good production and business models and effectively supported poor households...
The production and business models of farmers in Muong La district have demonstrated the spirit of overcoming difficulties and striving to become rich, becoming a driving force for agricultural and rural development in the locality. At the same time, they have gradually formed and developed concentrated commodity production areas associated with key crops with high productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.
