Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has just sent a document to the National Assembly Standing Committee regarding the handling of the land source for the Long Thanh airport project to serve the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway.
Dong Nai wants to request to use the land at the planned location of Terminal T3 of Long Thanh airport to serve the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway.
According to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, up to now, the land area of phase 2 of Long Thanh airport, which is more than 2,400 hectares, has not been approved and is being assigned to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province to manage, exploit and use the recovered land fund... The area of phase 2 for the airport includes many areas, including the planned location of Terminal T3 of Long Thanh airport with an area of about 187 hectares.
In reality, to build the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway through Dong Nai, about 5 million cubic meters of fill soil will be needed. Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has also planned the exploitation area to provide fill soil for the project. However, the distance from the mine to the construction site is far, it has to be transported a long distance but the quality of the fill soil does not meet the standards for highway construction, and there are some conditions for piloting some specific policies on investment in road construction.
Therefore, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province reported to the National Assembly Standing Committee for consideration of the following contents: Approval of the policy to allow the recovery of landfill materials in a part of the 187ha area of the planned T3 terminal of Long Thanh airport to create a source of land for the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway. Because the airport is very close to the expressway, it shortens travel time...
Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 is under construction, speeding up progress to reach the finish line soon.
Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee will also calculate and supplement the planning for exploitation of landfill materials to have a source of landfill materials to supply for landfilling at Long Thanh airport when implementing the next phase.
According to the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, in reality, when putting into operation phase 1 of Long Thanh airport, Vietnam Airport Corporation (ACV) only leveled the ground in the 1,810ha area, and did not level the planned area of T3 terminal, which would create a difference in elevation between the two areas (from 8-10m). Therefore, it is necessary to lower the elevation of this area so as not to affect the airport's operations when it comes into operation.
Dong Nai also believes that exploiting land from the planned area for T3 airport will only take about 7km, making transportation easier, less traffic on residential roads, less impact on people, reducing environmental pollution, and reducing construction costs.
It is known that in previous working sessions with delegations of the National Assembly, the Government, the Ministry of Transport , etc., the leaders of Dong Nai province also repeatedly proposed to use land from the planned location of Terminal T3 of Long Thanh airport to serve the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway and received consensus from many delegates in the delegation.
