With the planning of 83 industrial parks, 63 industrial clusters and Hoa Lu Border Gate Economic Zone of over 25.8 thousand hectares, along with the advantage of a complete transportation system connecting all 5 aspects (road, inland waterway, international maritime, railway and air), Dong Nai continues to attract FDI projects in many fields.
Vietnam's attractive foreign capital flow
In the first 5 months of the year, Dong Nai province (old) attracted over 1.2 billion USD in FDI, an increase of 48% over the same period in 2024, ranking 4th in the country in attracting FDI; Binh Phuoc province (old) attracted nearly 225 million USD in FDI with 33 investment projects and increased capital.
According to the assessment of the Department of Finance, newly attracted FDI projects focus on the manufacturing industries of semiconductors, electrical and electronic components; mechanical engineering; textiles; manufacturing of prefabricated metal products... meeting the criteria for attracting high-quality, environmentally friendly projects. There are no projects in the list of industries with the risk of causing environmental pollution, labor-intensive; ensuring criteria on advanced technology; in line with the province's investment attraction policy.
Since the beginning of the year, Dong Nai has welcomed many businesses, consuls general, and ambassadors from countries and territories such as the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Taiwan, etc. to work and learn about the investment environment in Dong Nai. Through visits and working sessions with provincial leaders, the ambassadors and consuls general highly appreciated the potential of Dong Nai province and wished to open up cooperative relationships, contributing to the local socio-economic development.
At a recent meeting and working session with Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City Daniël Stork said that the Netherlands currently has 18 investment projects in Dong Nai, and is the largest investor in the European Union (EU) region in Vietnam. In addition, the Netherlands is also Vietnam's largest export market in the EU. This shows that the Netherlands is Vietnam's leading trade partner in the EU region.
Mr. Daniël Stork highly appreciated Dong Nai for creating favorable conditions for Dutch enterprises to operate smoothly in the province. According to Mr. Daniël Stork, the favorable investment environment, as well as the sustainable development orientation of Dong Nai, have greatly contributed to the success of Dutch enterprises operating in the province. Before the information about the merger of the two provinces, Mr. Daniël Stork hoped that the new Dong Nai province would continue to become a key economic zone of the Southern region and of Vietnam.
Continue to create a favorable environment for investors
Up to now, Dong Nai has signed 42 memorandums of understanding and international cooperation agreements at the provincial level for the first time with 13 countries around the world and implemented 14 re-signings. Dong Nai has determined to take advantage of its location and convenient transportation, with the spearhead being industrial development to create a breakthrough. In recent years, the province's economic growth rate has always been high and stable, averaging 8% per year. After the merger, the new Dong Nai province will continue to be one of the leading industrial development provinces in Vietnam.
In addition, the transportation system of Dong Nai province after the merger is also among the most diverse in the country. In particular, Dong Nai will become the province with the longest land border with the Kingdom of Cambodia in Vietnam, with 4 border gates (Hoa Lu International Border Gate, main border gates: Hoang Dieu, Loc Thinh; Tan Tien secondary border gate) and an open, convenient way to connect with the development triangle of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia.
The general goal is that by 2030, Dong Nai will become a civilized, modern, high-growth province, surpassing the high-income threshold in the top group of the country. The economy will develop dynamically and take the lead in developing aviation economy, high-tech industry, science and technology and innovation. The economic and social infrastructure system and urban system will develop synchronously, modernly, intelligently, sustainably, and rich in identity, characterized by the development of international-class airport and ecological urban areas. Cultural identity will be preserved and promoted; the ecological environment will be protected and adapted to climate change; national defense and security will be firmly ensured.
Exchanging information in meetings with foreign partners, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc said that the new Dong Nai province has an area of over 12.7 thousand km², with a population of over 4.4 million people. The number of industrial parks in the new Dong Nai province has increased significantly, opening up many opportunities for Dong Nai to attract FDI projects for investment in production and business. In addition, with new administrative boundaries, the new Dong Nai province belongs to the Southern key economic region, the North-South traffic artery, the province has Hoa Lu border gate with nearly 260km of border with Cambodia and Long Thanh International Airport is about to come into operation, the new Dong Nai province promises to continue to be a dynamic economic development area in the future.
