After many sessions of bank stocks supporting the market, today the real estate group added, helping the VN-Index increase for the 7th consecutive session.
Despite the narrowing range, stocks continued to increase at the beginning of this week. The VN-Index opened above the reference price on January 8, thanks to the positive performance of the banking group - the pillar stock that has dominated the market in recent sessions. The increase of this sector helped balance the profit-taking pressure in the rest.
However, unlike previous sessions, the differentiation in the banking group was stronger when the increase was only focused on a few stocks. The increase of VN30 today also slowed down, unlike previous sessions, when selling pressure in other groups in the large-cap basket increased.
In addition to banks, the green color of the real estate group also partly supported the index. This development helped VN-Index extend its series of increasing sessions to 7, closing above 1,160 points (up 5.5 points, 0.48%). VN30-Index increased by only more than 2 points (0.2%), reaching 1,163 points. On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, HNX-Index and UPCOM-Index closed the session near the reference.
Total market liquidity reached over VND21,600 billion. Of which, liquidity on the HoSE was over VND19,200 billion, an increase of over VND3,700 billion compared to the previous session. Foreign investors net sold over VND249 billion today, the fifth consecutive session.
On the HoSE floor, there were 273 stocks increasing in price, compared to 234 stocks decreasing in price. In the VN30 group, the number of stocks increasing was also slightly higher with a ratio of 16:13.
BID was the stock that contributed the most to the VN-Index with 2.7 points, when this code closed up 4.3%, to 46,400 VND. In contrast, MSN was the stock that had the most negative impact on the index when this code decreased 1.9%, to 66,600 VND.
Banking was also the industry group with the strongest increase today. In addition to BID, TCB increased by 2.7%, CTG added nearly 2%, SHB , MBB, VIB exceeded the reference by more than 1%. However, many banking codes also closed in red, such as SSB, STB, ACB, TPB.
In the mid-cap segment, real estate is the most notable group. The duo NBB and CII closed at the ceiling price, while many other codes in this group increased by 1-3%.
