Dong Trieu - A city connecting inter-regions

Given its position and role as a driving force for economic development in the western region of Quang Ninh province, Dong Trieu's transportation infrastructure is being invested in and improved to connect inter-regional and intra-regional areas. This is an important condition for Dong Trieu City to shape its economic development in conjunction with regional linkages.

The transportation infrastructure connecting Dong Trieu City is becoming increasingly complete.

Located at the western gateway of Quang Ninh province and at the intersection of the key economic triangle of Northern Vietnam ( Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh), along with an inland waterway and railway system, Dong Trieu City has many road routes that play a role in connecting the region. These include: National Highways 18 and 17B running through Dong Trieu and connecting to Chi Linh City and Kinh Mon Town in Hai Duong province; Provincial Road 332 connecting Dong Trieu with Hai Duong province via Trieu Bridge; Provincial Road 345 connecting with Bac Giang province; and Provincial Road 333 connecting with Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong City via Lai Xuan Bridge, which is currently being urgently completed. These advantages in location and transportation system have created favorable conditions for Dong Trieu to transport goods, exchange, and integrate economically and socially with localities within and outside the province.

To further improve the socio-economic infrastructure of the young city, the province has prioritized investment in many important external transportation projects that serve as driving forces for the development of Dong Trieu City. Among these, the project to renovate and upgrade Provincial Road 333 in Yen Duc commune, which commenced construction in October, will directly connect with Lai Xuan Bridge, forming a new gateway for road transport between Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city. Upon completion and commissioning, the project will not only meet transportation needs but also open up opportunities to attract investment to the young city of Dong Trieu in the future.

The Lai Xuan bridge and the connecting road to provincial road 333 are being constructed at an accelerated pace.

Along with the Lai Xuan Bridge and Provincial Road 333 already under construction, Quang Ninh province is urgently completing investment procedures and land clearance to implement the following projects: renovating, expanding, and upgrading Provincial Road 345 to a mountainous Class III road with 2 lanes, connecting with Provincial Road 293 of Bac Giang province; investing in the construction of Provincial Road 327 to connect the provincial gateway with the main central road of Dong Trieu City and the spiritual route. In particular, the 10-lane riverside road will be completed in the near future, significantly contributing to Dong Trieu City's direct connection to the province's expressway network.

With existing transportation routes and those to be completed in the near future, Dong Trieu will not only expand its development potential but also significantly contribute to becoming a true regional goods transit hub. This is also one of the advantages for Dong Trieu to attract investment and develop its socio-economic sector.

Mr. Robert Reynolds, General Manager of Dong Trieu Golf Course, said: "Along with the natural landscape, the ability to quickly connect with economic centers in the region is also an advantage in choosing to invest in a golf course in Dong Trieu. In particular, the transportation routes to be completed in the near future will further reduce travel time from localities in the region: Hai Phong, Hanoi, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, and Ha Long to the golf course."

Recognizing that transportation infrastructure must be prioritized, and alongside the province's investment in external and inter-regional transportation infrastructure projects, Dong Trieu also prioritizes allocating resources, combined with social contributions from the people, to complete the internal transportation system.

Mr. Le Van Do, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Trieu City, said: Based on the existing transportation infrastructure and the planned East-West road axis along the riverside with 10 high-speed lanes; the transportation axis connecting historical sites and the North-South connecting road system linking the two aforementioned axes, as well as synchronizing with transportation routes connecting to neighboring provinces, this is an important condition for Dong Trieu City to shape its economic development in conjunction with regional linkages, realizing the approved plan with three development zones: tourism, commercial services, and industry.
