At approximately 4:30 PM on September 3rd, at the Cat Lai ferry terminal (connecting Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province with Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), the high volume of vehicles caused a traffic jam stretching over 2 km on the Nhon Trach (Dong Nai) side of the river.

Most of the vehicles waiting to cross the Cat Lai ferry to return to Ho Chi Minh City are families using their personal cars for a trip to Vung Tau.

Mr. Ha The Nam (residing in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City) said that during the holiday, he and his wife and children went to Vung Tau for a trip. On the way back, fearing traffic jams on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway, his family chose to travel via the Cat Lai ferry. However, on the afternoon of September 3rd, a traffic jam occurred just over 2km from the ferry terminal. "Our car was inching forward, and we waited for more than 30 minutes but still couldn't get on the ferry," Mr. Nam shared with frustration.

For many years, the Cat Lai ferry (connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province) has been overloaded and constantly congested during peak holiday seasons. Therefore, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province are currently planning to build a bridge to replace the Cat Lai ferry.

Besides the Cat Lai ferry terminal area, according to observations by reporters on the afternoon of September 3rd, the western gateway area of Ho Chi Minh City was also bustling with people and vehicles.

On National Highway 1, in the area from the Binh Thuan intersection overpass to the intersection of National Highway 1 and Nguyen Huu Tri Street, and from Binh Dien Bridge to the beginning of An Lac pedestrian bridge No. 2 (Binh Chanh district), localized traffic congestion occasionally occurs but does not last long.
