Route DT753?
Currently, DT753 is considered the only route that can connect the two provinces of Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai. However, this route has been cut off at Ma Da Bridge and is stuck in the Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve, so it has not been invested in construction.
DT753 route is about 30km long, Binh Phuoc province is implementing an upgrade and expansion project (section from Dong Xoai city to Dong Phu - Binh Duong road) with a length of about 13km, road surface width of 19m, roadbed width of 22m. The remaining section is about 17km, asphalt road surface width of 7m, roadbed width of 9m.
The investment policy for the road project connecting the two provinces of Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai via Ma Da bridge has been "activated" as expected.
The section through Dong Nai province is about 46km long. Of which, 5km is from Ma Da stream to the intersection of the road to the National Monument of the Central Office of Southern Vietnam. The current condition of the road is red gravel, the average road width is about 7m.
This route has just been studied and surveyed by the leaders of the two provinces to find a plan to build Ma Da bridge to connect the traffic of the two provinces. Specifically, in mid-March 2025, the leaders of the two provinces had a meeting and agreed on the investment policy for the road project connecting the two provinces via Ma Da bridge. The scope of the project starts from Dong Xoai city (Binh Phuoc province) following DT753, crossing Ma Da bridge to Dong Nai province, then following DT761 and DT767 routes, connecting with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4, with a total length of about 76km.
The goal is to complete the procedures to start construction of Ma Da Bridge in June 2025, with the expected completion and operation in December 2025. Construction of the connecting road from Ma Da Bridge to Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 will begin in June 2026 and be put into operation in 2028.
The upgrading and expansion of DT753 route, combined with the construction of Ma Da bridge, is expected to create a vital traffic axis, promoting local socio-economic development.
It is expected that Ma Da Bridge will be completed and put into use in December 2025. To keep this route running smoothly, after the bridge is completed, a viaduct must be built as planned and a 5km-long dirt and gravel road section must be upgraded (from Ma Da stream to the intersection of the road to the National Monument of the Central Office of the Southern Region). In addition, the section through Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve currently has 2 lanes, lacks street lights, animal barriers, etc., so traffic will be limited.
In case Ma Da bridge is completed and the above problems are resolved, this route can be used for limited traffic. From Dong Xoai city to Vinh Cuu district center via Ma Da bridge, it is nearly 70km long and takes an average of 1 hour to travel. From here, follow DT767 for another 18km to National Highway 1 (Tri An intersection, Trang Bom district) or follow DT768 for another 35km to Bien Hoa city center.
Expected route from Dong Xoai City, Binh Phuoc to Dong Nai via Ma Da Bridge
Currently, Long Thanh airport is under urgent construction, striving to complete and put into use in 2025 as required by the Government. From the center of Bien Hoa city to Long Thanh airport is about 50km via National Highway 1 or National Highway 51 and it takes 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes to complete this route. However, because these two national highways are overloaded, the time will be longer. The shortest distance from Dong Xoai city to Long Thanh airport via Ma Da bridge is more than 150km, with a total travel time of about 3 hours (under normal conditions).
Dong Phu - Binh Duong road connection?
At the end of April 2023, the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) reported to the Prime Minister on investing in a route connecting Binh Phuoc province and the Central Highlands provinces with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4, Dong Nai port, Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport and Long Thanh airport instead of the Ma Da bridge project. The selected project is to connect Dong Phu - Binh Duong road and Bac Tan Uyen - Phu Giao - Bau Bang road with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 in Bac Tan Uyen district, Binh Duong province, with a total length of about 71km.
The Bac Tan Uyen - Phu Giao - Bau Bang dynamic route has been completed, connected and put into use for nearly half a year now.
In September 2024, Binh Duong province put into use the 50km-long Bac Tan Uyen - Phu Giao - Bau Bang route, designed at a speed of 80km/h, with a scale of 6 lanes, with a total investment of more than VND 5,256 billion. The Dong Phu - Binh Duong section was previously approved by the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc province for investment in the form of BOT with a length of more than 41km, connecting National Highway 14 (Km946, Dong Phu district, Binh Phuoc province) with the Bac Tan Uyen - Phu Giao - Bau Bang force-generating road (Binh Duong province), with a total investment of about VND 1,480 billion. However, the project has not been implemented yet.
Tam Lap Bridge, the border section between Dong Phu district (Binh Phuoc province) and Phu Giao district (Binh Duong province), connecting Dong Phu - Binh Duong road and Bac Tan Uyen - Phu Giao - Bau Bang road, is being urgently constructed.
Recently, Dong Phu district coordinated with the authorities to clear the land to construct the road section passing through Hamlet 4, Tan Lap commune to connect with the Bac Tan Uyen - Phu Giao - Bau Bang dynamic route.
It is known that Binh Phuoc is researching and implementing the project in the form of BT. After completion, it will connect Binh Phuoc and the Central Highlands provinces with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4, Dong Nai Port, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Seaport and Long Thanh Airport. Thereby contributing to solving the problem of traffic connection between the two provinces of Binh Phuoc - Dong Nai.
According to updated Google Map, it takes more than 3 hours from Dong Xoai city to Long Thanh Airport for a distance of about 140km if traveling in the direction of DT741.
Up to now, this route is not yet accessible, the reason is that the Dong Phu - Binh Duong route has not yet been invested in and connected. However, in case the Dong Phu - Binh Duong route is put into operation, with a total theoretical length of about 71km. Therefore, the travel time from Dong Xoai to Long Thanh airport takes about 3 hours.
DT741 - the route chosen by many people
Currently, all routes from Dong Xoai City to Bien Hoa City must pass through Binh Duong Province. Of which, DT741 route is chosen by many people, with a total distance of nearly 90km, travel time of about 2 hours.
Starting from the center of Dong Xoai City, travel along DT741 for about 30km to Nuoc Vang Parish in Tan Thinh Hamlet, An Binh Commune, Phu Giao District, Binh Duong Province, travel another 10km and turn left onto DH502. At the end of DH502, turn onto Bac Tan Uyen - Phu Giao - Bau Bang force-generating road. Continue along DT746 across Thu Bien Bridge over Dong Nai River, connecting Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces. From Thu Bien Bridge, continue along DT768 for about 8km, turn onto Dong Khoi Street to reach the center of Bien Hoa City.
Also following Highway 741, the distance from Dong Xoai city to Bien Hoa city takes more than 2 hours to travel for a distance of nearly 90km.
According to calculations, if traveling along this route, from Dong Xoai City to Bien Hoa City is nearly 90km long, taking an average of nearly 2 hours to travel. From here, continuing to Long Thanh airport will take about 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes.
A series of transportation projects will soon be implemented.
Up to this point, DT741 is the only and most convenient route to travel from Dong Xoai City to Bien Hoa City and Long Thanh Airport. This may be news that makes many people unhappy. However, with a series of large-scale traffic projects that have been and are being "activated" such as the North-South Expressway in the West, Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) section; Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh Expressway; Ma Da Bridge project and connecting traffic routes; project connecting Dong Phu - Binh Duong road and Bac Tan Uyen - Phu Giao - Bau Bang road with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4, the new Dong Nai province after the merger will certainly thoroughly resolve the difficulties and obstacles related to traffic issues.
On April 18, 2025, the Ministry of Construction issued Document No. 2273/BXD-KHTC to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on the investment plan for the road connecting Binh Phuoc province and Dong Nai province via Ma Da bridge. In the document, the Ministry of Construction stated that currently, connecting Binh Phuoc province with Ho Chi Minh City or Dong Nai must go through Binh Duong province and that research to invest in traffic works directly connecting Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai provinces is necessary. Based on the socio-economic development needs of localities and in the region, Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces have agreed to choose the connection plan from Dong Xoai city following DT753, passing Ma Da bridge to Dong Nai province, following local routes connecting to the city's Ring Road 4. Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai port, Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport and Long Thanh international airport to facilitate traffic and support socio-economic development of the Southeast and Central Highlands regions. |
