Continuing the momentum from the end of the Bundesliga season, Dortmund have yet to taste defeat at this year's Club World Cup. The 2023-2024 Champions League runners-up were always expected to beat their rivals for the top spot in Group F and they did just that.
In the group stage, coach Niko Kovac's team played out a goalless draw with Fluminense, overcame South African side Mamelodi Sundowns in a spectacular 7-0 win and also defeated Ulsan HD by just 1 goal.
Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, is one of Dortmund's best players.
While none of Dortmund's performances in Group F were particularly noteworthy, Monterrey impressed by going through the group stage without losing a single game and finishing second behind Inter Milan. With that impressive form, Monterrey are expected to be a "tough" opponent for Dortmund.
