BRING ART CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, performing arts activities serving the people are regularly organized, especially during major provincial events, important political events, and holidays such as: the founding day of the Communist Party of Vietnam ( February 3); the Liberation Day of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30); President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19); Lunar New Year, etc.

Many art programs are well-invested, innovative in content, and vibrant in form, contributing to spreading the cultural values and image of the people of Dong Thap to locals and tourists.
Many unique art programs are also organized at the Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Plant Festival, the Go Thap National Special Historical Site, and other localities in the province, such as: circus performances, magic shows, traditional folk music and cải lương (Vietnamese opera), and public cultural exchanges…
This creates a healthy cultural environment, meeting the entertainment needs of the people. In particular, during the celebration of the Lunar New Year of the Horse in 2026, the New Year's art program was held at four locations: Dao Thanh Ward, Cao Lanh Ward, Sa Dec Ward, and Hong Ngu Ward, combined with an artistic fireworks display, attracting approximately 180,000 viewers.
Furthermore, the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector also focuses on bringing cultural and artistic activities to the grassroots level, serving a large number of people in rural areas. The Provincial Cultural and Arts Center and the Provincial Mobile Propaganda Team continue to play a role in grassroots propaganda work.

In the first few months of 2026, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized approximately 10 art performances serving over 27,900 viewers, and over 90 film screenings serving more than 40,000 viewers in various localities throughout the province.
The performances focus on disseminating the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws, major holidays, and the local socio -economic development tasks. Documentary and propaganda films are brought to the grassroots level, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people.
SPREADING THE CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC MOVEMENT AT THE GRASSROOTS LEVEL
Alongside performing arts activities, the mass cultural and artistic movement continues to develop strongly in localities. Many communes and wards organize exchanges and performances of traditional folk music and Đồng Tháp folk songs; maintaining traditional folk music and Đồng Tháp folk song clubs, creating meeting places for those who love art to meet and sing together.

Every year, several localities in the province also organize the Dong Thap Traditional Music and Folk Song Exchange Competition. This is a platform that helps fulfill the passion for singing for art lovers, serves the people, and keeps the flame of traditional music and folk songs alive.
In particular, nowadays, traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music and Đồng Tháp folk songs are being performed at tourist areas, attractions, and festivals in the province to entertain the local people.
The songs and performances of the artists and performers not only bring joy to the people and tourists but also promote the culture and unique characteristics of Dong Thap province to visitors.
Over the past year, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism staged 57 art programs to serve major holidays, political tasks and important events of the province, attracting more than 80,770 viewers. Traditional art forms continue to be maintained and promoted effectively. The Cai Luong play "Behind the Sunny Threshold" was staged and performed five times for the people in various localities, attracting over 3,200 viewers; the "Night of Gratitude" program is regularly maintained with many outstanding performances of traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music and Cai Luong, contributing to preserving the traditional artistic values of Southern Vietnam. |
In Cao Lanh and My Ngai wards, performances of traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music and Dong Thap folk songs are also incorporated into tourism activities such as: Tan Thuan Dong Island Market, Xom Ray Market, Tan Thuan Tay Night, and local cultural events.
This is an opportunity for talented artists in the ward to interact, learn, practice their singing and musical skills, improve their performance techniques, and participate in competitions and festivals inside and outside the province, as well as pass on their artistic talents to the younger generation. Through this, they contribute to bringing joy to the people in the area.
According to the People's Committee of Cao Lanh Ward, the ward has consistently focused on organizing numerous cultural and artistic activities to serve the cultural and spiritual lives of its residents.
The ward organizes many art programs on occasions such as the anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam, the reunification of the country, and New Year's Eve... These art activities attract a large number of people to watch.
Typically, during this year's celebration of the Liberation Day of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification Day on April 30th, the People's Committee of Cao Lanh Ward, in coordination with the Cao Lanh Ward Literature and Arts Club, organized a performance program of traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music and Dong Thap folk songs with the theme "A Song of Joy".
The artistic program included many meticulously staged performances such as: "The Country's Complete Joy," "Continuing the Story of Peace," "The Land of Pink Lotuses Resounds with Folk Songs," "The Song of Nostalgia," "The Love Story of Dong Thap," "The Thousand-Year-Old Splendor of the Nation," and an excerpt from the Cai Luong play "The Drum of Me Linh"... performed by artists, singers, actors, and dance troupes.
The art program revisits the glorious fighting traditions of the nation, thereby educating the younger generation about patriotism and gratitude for the sacrifices of previous generations who died for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
At the same time, it promotes the beauty of the traditional culture of Dong Thap province, creating a joyful and united atmosphere among the people on the occasion of the country's major holiday.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut (45 years old, residing in Tan Dan hamlet, Cao Lanh ward) shared: “Every holiday, Tet (Lunar New Year), or New Year's Eve, my family often comes to Van Mieu Park (Cao Lanh ward) to watch cultural performances and fireworks. I find the atmosphere very joyful and lively, providing my family with an additional place for recreation and entertainment.”
Through a variety of rich, practical, and life-affirming cultural and artistic activities, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province contributes to improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people.
Art programs, festivals, and community activities not only create a joyful and exciting atmosphere but also contribute to preserving traditional cultural identity and building a culture of compassion, dynamism, and creativity among the people of Dong Thap.
