Also according to the announcement from the Ministry of Education and Training, this year, the whole country has 1,071,395 candidates registered for the exam. However, the trend of candidates choosing the Natural Science block is decreasing. Specifically, this year, only 37% of candidates registered to take the Natural Science exam (including Physics, Chemistry, Biology), while up to 63% of candidates chose the Social Science exam (History, Geography and CivicEducation ). Compared to last year, the number of candidates choosing the Natural Science exam decreased by 7.7%.

Speaking to Dan Viet Newspaper, Master Ngo Tri Dung, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Hong Bang International University, said: "From the comments of candidates and teachers about the 2024 high school graduation exam, the scores of the exams will increase slightly, but there will be a limited "rain" of 10 points because the exams have high differentiation in the last questions. In the Math exam, candidates with good academic ability can be sure of 6-7 points, but the 8-9 points are few, especially the 10 points will decrease compared to 2023.
For the Social Science exam, candidates will not have difficulty achieving 7-7.5 points for candidates with good academic performance. Candidates with good academic performance are more likely to achieve 9-10 points because this year's Literature subject is generally easier. Thus, the predicted standard score for Natural and Social Sciences to enter universities in 2024 may increase slightly from 0.25 to 0.75 points, but candidates should wait until July 20 when the school announces the threshold score to ensure input quality for majors in the Health Sciences field and the floor score for the remaining majors. In addition, candidates can use the method of considering academic records combined with the 12th grade academic performance condition for early admission to secure a place in the program with a score of 24 points for majors in Medicine, Dentistry, Traditional Medicine, and Pharmacy. Nursing, Midwifery, Medical Laboratory Technology, Rehabilitation Technology with a score of 19.5 points and the remaining industries 18 points".
According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Khanh, a former Biology teacher at Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, Phu Tho, currently a teacher in Hanoi : In the 2024 high school graduation exam, it can be seen that the Biology exam is more differentiated than the 2023 exam. In terms of structure, the 2024 exam remains the same as in recent years, and still has the formula of 30 + 10. Students who review the basic knowledge in textbooks and follow the teacher's review outline in class can achieve 6-7 points. With the remaining 10 questions in 4 pages, the difficulty level is higher than last year. The familiar question types in the Genetics section have now been redesigned, so they look "both strange and familiar", requiring candidates to have the ability to reason and think about the solution, otherwise they will spend a lot of time processing without being able to solve it. The questions in the Evolution and Ecology sections have been increased in difficulty but are still very reasonable compared to before.
It is predicted that the average score for Biology this year from 8.5 and above will decrease compared to last year. The number of 9+ and absolute score of 10 will decrease significantly, the score of 6-7 and below will still be equivalent. With the correlation of this year's Math exam being quite difficult, the Chemistry exam being similar to that of 2023, the average score for blocks B00 and D08 will decrease. It is highly likely that the standard score for top Medical and Pharmaceutical schools will decrease from 0.5 to 1.5 points (depending on the major), other schools will be the same or increase slightly, depending on the quota of each school.
Schedule for announcing high school graduation exam results 2024
According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, the announcement of the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on July 17. Immediately after that, candidates who wish to apply will use their exam scores to apply for university admission.
From July 18 to 5:00 p.m. on July 30, candidates can register and adjust their admission wishes within the prescribed time (unlimited number of times and number of wishes) on the Ministry of Education and Training 's information portal within the prescribed time.
No later than July 21, the Ministry of Education and Training will announce the minimum scores for health and education majors.
From July 31 to 5:00 p.m. August 6, candidates pay online registration fees according to the number of registered wishes.
From August 13 to 5:00 p.m. on August 17, the Ministry of Education and Training will process the wishes on the system to determine the highest wish among the wishes for which the candidate is eligible to be admitted.
Before 5:00 p.m. on August 19, training institutions will announce the benchmark scores and the list of first round admissions.
Before 5:00 p.m. on August 27, candidates confirm online admission for the first round on the system.
From August 28, training institutions will announce additional enrollment.
From September to December 2024, training institutions will consider the next admission rounds and update the list of admitted and enrolled candidates according to regulations.
