In late September, the terraced rice fields in Mu Cang Chai begin to turn golden, marking the start of the rice harvest season. This is also the time of year when Mu Cang Chai is most crowded with tourists.
According to Tuoi Tre Online , on the afternoon of September 20th, thousands of tourists gathered at the raspberry and horseshoe-shaped hills (Mu Cang Chai, Lao Cai ) - fantastic spots for taking photos during the rice harvest season.
Nestled amidst the mountains and forests of Northwest Vietnam, terraced rice fields, stacked upon one another like terraces, captivate visitors. Growing rice in terraced fields is a traditional farming method of the Mong ethnic group in the region.

With the development of tourism , these terraced rice fields are not only a source of abundant harvests, but also help local people improve their lives by welcoming tourists from all over the world.
Last year's rice harvest coincided with Typhoon Yagi , which caused heavy rains and landslides in many areas of Northwest and Northeast Vietnam, resulting in a low number of visitors coming to admire the ripening rice fields.
This year, the cool, sunny autumn weather has created favorable conditions for both domestic and international tourists to admire the magnificent terraced rice fields during the harvest season.

According to Ha Thi Hoai Thu, a local tour guide, the Horseshoe Mountain was very crowded with tourists on the afternoon of September 20th, and many tourists had not yet reached the foot of the mountain by 7 PM.
"The distance to Móng Ngựa is only about 1km, normally it only takes a few minutes to get there. But today it took me more than 40 minutes to travel. The weather was favorable, and the sunset was beautiful, so there were many visitors coming to admire the rice fields," Hoài Thu shared.
According to Hoai Thu, the cost for a one-day guided tour to see the ripening rice fields and visit Mu Cang Chai ranges from 700,000 to 800,000 VND. Tourists will get to visit places such as Mam Xoi Hill, Mong Ngua Hill, bamboo forest, corn houses, etc.
According to Giàng Hạnh Phúc, a local tour guide, many homestays in Mù Cang Chải were fully booked from the beginning of September as the number of visitors coming to admire the rice fields gradually increased.
In Mu Cang Chai, there are many beautiful areas for tourists to enjoy the rice harvest season, such as Mong Ngua Hill, Mam Xoi Hill, and the road to Mo De village…

The roads to the rice field viewing spots are quite winding and curving… if you're not a confident driver, you should hire a local motorbike taxi. The price for a motorbike taxi is around 600,000 VND/day (including lunch).
