“Slow travel” - the trend of the future

In a hurried world, where travel itineraries sometimes turn into “checklists” full of destinations, a counter-trend is quietly spreading: Slow travel - where people stop to live slowly, feel deeply and connect truly.

Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) is the leading Vietnamese city on the list of ideal Asian destinations for slow travel .

Recently, online travel platform Agoda has announced a list of ideal Asian destinations for a “slow living” journey, in which Nha Trang surprisingly surpassed many famous cities to lead the list in Vietnam, standing next to familiar names such as: Tokyo, Seoul or Chiang Mai.

Nha Trang - a peaceful life by the waves

Not the dreamy Da Lat, ancient Hue or quiet Hoi An, Nha Trang - the central coastal city is rated by Agoda as an ideal destination for those who crave a relaxing vacation, slow living and enjoying every moment.

With a long coastline, white sand as smooth as silk, gentle yellow sunlight spreading over clear blue water, Nha Trang is not only beautiful in form but also beautiful in emotion.

Visitors can relax along the beach in the early morning, listening to the lullaby of the waves, or seek out relaxing mineral mud treatments, explore the ancient Ponagar tower to feel a rhythm of life that is both quiet and deep.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Vietnam, commented: “Slow travel is like a “reset” button, changing the way we explore the world, encouraging people to temporarily put aside the hustle and bustle of life to truly immerse themselves and feel the beauty of each destination. With its gentle coastal atmosphere, Nha Trang is the perfect choice to regain balance and inspiration in life.”

When travel is a journey of feeling, not a race

Unlike quick trips where people try to cram their itinerary with dozens of destinations, “slow travel” emphasizes deep experiences.

That is when visitors not only take photos, but also listen to the voice of the land, immerse themselves in the indigenous culture, and enjoy traditional cuisine with all respect and curiosity.

That is also when travelers find themselves through each leisurely step, each unexpected conversation with the locals.

Based on accommodation data from nine markets in Asia, Agoda selected destinations with the longest stays and highest proportion of guests seeking relaxing experiences.

Topping the list is Rayong (Thailand), a peaceful coastal city where tourists can enjoy fresh seafood, explore Koh Samet island or simply lie under a coconut tree listening to the waves sing.

Other notable destinations also named include: Kalegwa (Indonesia) where green rice fields and traditional Bugis culture permeate every small street. Seoul (South Korea) behind the modern urban appearance are peaceful corners in the ancient Bukchon Hanok village and traditional teahouses.

Tokyo (Japan) is both bustling and quiet, where each neighborhood is a different world with its own pace of life. Boracay (Philippines) - a paradise island with white sand, clear water and unforgettable sunsets.

Taipei (Taiwan, China) is a culturally diverse place with hot springs, night markets, mountain climbing, and delicious cuisine. Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) - where you can leisurely explore architectural heritages and immerse yourself in the Asian-European fusion of life.

Chennai (India) - a coastal city of art and spirituality, where every classical concert is a profound inner journey.

Vietnam with a slow living journey from sea to city

In addition to Nha Trang, Agoda also recognizes Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City as two ideal destinations for a slow-living journey in Vietnam.

If Da Nang scores points for its harmonious combination of sea, mountains, cuisine and peaceful atmosphere, Ho Chi Minh City - the bustling center of the country - surprises people with its peaceful "oases" hidden behind alleys, old coffee shops, afternoon walks around Turtle Lake or the shady Zoo.

For Vietnamese tourists, Chiang Mai (Thailand) is also a favorite name when looking for a place to truly "rest", where ancient Lanna culture, brilliant golden temples and short meditation classes create a peaceful, profound and complete life experience.

Slow travel is the trend of the future. “Slow travel” is not just a trend. It is a lifestyle, a reaction of modern people to the hustle and bustle of society.

In that pace of life, cities like Nha Trang, a coastal city with warm sunshine, gentle sea breezes and friendly people, have been, are and will be a support for those who want to slow down, to see that life has more meaningful layers beyond beautiful pictures.

Slow travel is a way to go but also a way to stay, in memories, in emotions and in the journey to find true connection with the world around you.
