Expanding island tours
This year, Co To has registered to develop 5 new tourism products, most of which are products carried over from last year. Among them, the island tour promises to be a great attraction for tourists. Recently, the district has announced the decision for 4 qualified travel businesses to organize tours under the Pilot Project of organizing water-based entertainment activities and visiting islands in Co To district. They are Co To Discovery Company Limited, Co To Blue Ocean Company Limited, Green Co To Company Limited and Blue Coto Travel Company Limited. This announcement aims to ensure the rights of businesses in their operations as well as help tourists grasp information, register for tours that ensure safety and quality...
Talking to us, Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Sao, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Science and Technology of Co To, said: The tour products of the islands previously only focused on the 3 small islands of Co To, Hon Ca Chep, Hon Su Tu in Dong Tien commune. This year, this tour has increased the number of islands with many new destinations rather than islands with tourism potential in the area, such as in the town there are Hon Dong Nam, Hon Bay Sao, Thanh Lan along with the big island Tran island...
Ms. Sao said that with the product Journey for the homeland's sea and islands in Dao Tran village, this year the district will step up communication and orientation for tourist groups to visit Tran island - the outpost of the island, which is considered as Truong Sa in the Northeast. Since the beginning of the year, the district has also connected a number of groups to Tran island. However, the exploitation of this product is not widespread in terms of quantity, but focuses on groups that want to learn about the sovereignty of the sea and islands, in order to bring the core values of sovereignty and the life of fishermen at sea to increase patriotism and protect the sovereignty of the Fatherland.
In addition, Tran Island currently has difficulties in welcoming guests, such as lack of accommodation, high tour costs, and difficult wind and wave conditions. Therefore, when welcoming guests, we must also be well prepared and have connections with local forces such as the navy, border guards, pagodas, village and commune authorities, etc. Later, when Tran Island becomes a strong tourist attraction, we will mobilize facilities and households on the island to build accommodation facilities to welcome guests.
Thanh Lan is also a highlight of Co To's tourism products. This year, Thanh Lan has completed the Van La bridge, helping visitors conveniently connect between experience and sightseeing destinations in the area, from the flagpole on the island, the temple, Thanh Lan church to jellyfish production facilities so that visitors can visit and experience the exploitation and processing of jellyfish here. Currently, Thanh Lan also proposed a plan to build Ba Chau beach this year to meet the standards of a tourist beach; propose organizing overnight camping activities at this beach, fishing activities on floating rafts in the Vung Tron area to increase the experience for visitors when coming to the island.
Resolving port difficulties
Through research, it is known that to deploy tours to take visitors to visit the islands in Co To district, the most important issue is to ensure the ports. Ms. Sao said that previously, the tour to visit the 3 islands of Co To Con, Hon Ca Chep, Hon Su Tu in Dong Tien commune temporarily used Bac Van wharf. This year, the locality has built tour itineraries departing from qualified ports. In the direction of departure, there are: Co To Port, Co To - Thanh Lan ferry and Thanh Lan wharf; at the same time, it is expected to expand 2 more temporary ports, Bac Van wharf and Hong Van wharf. The two temporary ports of Bac Van and Hong Van will shorten the distance to the islands, convenient for businesses and tourists in terms of cost, ensuring health conditions for the experience.
In the afternoon, only Tran Island has a solidly invested port but has not yet been recognized as an inland waterway port qualified to receive passengers. Therefore, the locality is mobilizing businesses to invest in temporary ports to connect at the destinations of the above islands and build temporary buoys at the two ports of Bac Van and Hong Van. Some businesses have submitted documents and developed plans for investment and exploitation...
“To be able to build passenger terminals, there are still many difficulties, related to planning, investment funding sources, procedures, other conditions... Last year, the district level had not been decentralized, there were no instructions, so although Co To was very determined and tried, it was still difficult and confusing in implementation. This year, the district boldly piloted like that, locking in the main ports but also adding 2 temporary terminals Bac Van and Hong Van after listening to the opinions of the business community and business people, because they have practical experience and are also the ones exploiting passengers through those ports" - Ms. Sao analyzed.
Lots of new ideas
This year, Co To also has many ideas in developing the night economy. The locality is currently mobilizing businesses to invest in developing night service activities in the district's Commercial Center area. The culinary street on Ly Thuong Kiet Street in the center of Co To town has now been expanded, the district also creates conditions for households to invest in more beautiful decorations, and operate night food services; at the same time, calling for the organization of music, cultural, and entertainment events to attract tourists.
Currently, the lake area in Zone 1, Co To town has been completed, with beautiful landscapes and surrounding land. The locality will continue to mobilize businesses to invest in services to create a walking street here. The Central Square area also calls for businesses to invest in services, and the locality will support sound, lighting, etc. to attract tourists at night.
With its unique position as the sea and island outpost of the Fatherland, since the beginning of this year, Co To has connected with large tourist groups to organize flag-raising activities and present sovereignty flags on Co To Island. Ms. Sao said that the locality is also coming up with ideas to organize and encourage tourist groups to come and learn about craft villages on the island, one of which is at Bac Van wharf. Accordingly, it is mobilizing households participating in fishing in the area to proactively announce the time the ship arrives after a fishing trip, so that tourists can visit the activities here, learn about seafood of Co To sea, build a number of service points so that tourists can enjoy seafood simply processed on the spot or buy it as gifts for family, friends, etc.
Along with the experience on the wharf, the locality will also connect tourists to OCOP facilities, large facilities that purchase, freeze or process seafood to ensure prestige and quality for tourists to visit and buy as gifts after their trip to Co To...
