Employees raised questions about social insurance and health insurance policies and received detailed answers from officials of the City Social Insurance Communications Department.
 

The Standing Committee of the Trade Union of Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones and Can Tho City Social Insurance have just organized a conference to disseminate policies and laws on social insurance and health insurance (HI) for grassroots trade union officials. At the conference, officials of the Communications Department and Can Tho City Social Insurance disseminated and introduced new points of the 2024 Social Insurance Law; the Law amending and supplementing an article of the Health Insurance Law; provided advice and distributed leaflets to disseminate policies and laws on social insurance and health insurance. At the same time, they disseminated and popularized regulations on the rights and obligations that employees are entitled to when participating in social insurance and health insurance...


Ms. Pham Thi Thai Thanh, an employee of Mekong Seafood Joint Stock Company, requested advice on maternity benefits when participating in voluntary social insurance. An official from the Communications Department of the City Social Insurance explained that the Social Insurance Law 2024 has added maternity benefits for voluntary social insurance participants. Specifically, according to the provisions of Articles 94 and 95 of the Social Insurance Law 2024, employees participating in voluntary social insurance, including female employees giving birth and male employees whose wives give birth, if they meet the conditions (paying social insurance for at least 6 months within 12 months before giving birth), will receive a subsidy of 2 million VND for each child born and each fetus from 22 weeks old or older that dies in the womb or dies during labor. Female workers who are ethnic minorities or female workers who are Kinh people whose husbands are ethnic minorities and are in poor households, when giving birth, in addition to the maternity regime prescribed by the Law on Social Insurance in 2024, are still entitled to other support policies according to the Government 's regulations. Grasping the information, Ms. Thanh said that she will promptly disseminate this content so that employees in the Company know, thereby registering to participate in voluntary social insurance for their families.

Notably, many employees were also consulted and explained in detail about the disadvantages when withdrawing social insurance at one time, such as: no longer being in the social insurance system protected by the State; the period of social insurance payment that has been calculated for one-time social insurance benefits will not be counted in the period of social insurance participation as a basis for calculating benefits for sickness, maternity, work-related accidents, occupational diseases, retirement, and death; losing the opportunity to receive monthly pension when reaching retirement age...

At the conference, questions about voluntary social insurance policies of employees were also answered enthusiastically. According to Ms. Diep Bich Nga, an official of the Social Insurance Communication Department of the city, organizing propaganda activities in the form of conferences and direct dialogues helps grassroots union officials to grasp more deeply the regulations of the law on social insurance, health insurance, etc. Thereby, supporting and consulting promptly and in accordance with regulations for employees at units and enterprises.

In order for employees to protect their rights and properly fulfill their social insurance and health insurance obligations, employees themselves must have a firm grasp of the legal provisions related to participation in and enjoyment of social insurance and health insurance policies. Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Kieu, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones, said: “We regularly direct trade unions at all levels to pay attention to organizing propaganda about labor laws in general and the Law on Social Insurance and the Law on Health Insurance in particular. Once they understand the legal provisions on labor, union members and employees can apply them to fulfill their responsibilities, obligations and protect their rights in labor relations.”

In recent times, Can Tho City Social Insurance has always diversified and innovated communication forms on social insurance and health insurance policies suitable for each group of participants, such as: training conferences, consultations, direct dialogues, small group communication, mobile propaganda... Can Tho City Social Insurance regularly coordinates closely with associations, unions and collection service organizations; promotes information and propaganda activities, raising awareness among union members, youth, members, and employees about the rights and responsibilities when participating in voluntary social insurance, family health insurance, and the risks when not participating... Thereby, helping people and employees better understand the benefits, humanity, and superiority of social insurance and health insurance policies to agree and voluntarily participate.
