(DTO) These days, many farmers in Tan Thanh commune, Dong Thap province are delighted as cucumbers are being purchased by traders at prices ranging from 20,000 to 25,000 VND/kg, the highest price in many recent seasons. The favorable selling price helps growers earn significant profits after deducting production costs.

Cucumbers are a crop with a short growing season, just over a month from planting to harvesting. They are easy to care for and suitable for the local soil and weather conditions. With an investment cost of about 10-12 million VND per hectare and an average yield of about 3 tons per hectare, farmers can earn 60-75 million VND, providing an attractive source of income.

Thanks to high economic efficiency, in recent years many households in Tan Thanh have boldly switched from less efficient crops to growing cucumbers and other vegetables. This shift in crop structure not only increases production value per unit of cultivated land but also contributes to stabilizing livelihoods and creating momentum for sustainable rural economic development.
