The People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province has just issued Decision No. 1577/QD-UBND approving the Project to develop OCOP products into tourism ambassadors of Khanh Hoa province for the period 2026-2030.
The project is built on the basis of developing agriculture in an integrated, multi-value, green, ecological, and circular direction; leveraging the advantages of each region and locality; closely linking agriculture with tourism and building local brands.
The project aims to make OCOP products the tourism ambassadors of Khanh Hoa, closely linked to tourism activities and cultural experiences, and local identity. This will enhance the value of the products, create sustainable livelihoods for the people, and increase the attractiveness and uniqueness of Khanh Hoa as a tourist destination.
Specifically, with the goal of developing OCOP products linked to tourism, the aim is to have at least 10% of OCOP products associated with tourism. The selection should focus on distinctive, unique products that reflect local identity and have the potential to become tourism ambassadors; prioritizing OCOP products that have achieved 4 stars or higher, and unique products not found in other localities that have been recognized with 3 stars, such as: bird's nest, sea grapes, agarwood, grapes, apples, mangoes, pomelos, durian, asparagus, garlic, various types of seaweed, goat meat, lamb meat, etc.
Accordingly, at least 30 OCOP-tourism introduction and experience points will be established. Priority will be given to selecting locations in communes and wards with convenient transportation access, creating inter-regional connections between tourist routes and destinations, and one location will be chosen as a provincial-level exhibition point. In addition, OCOP products will be integrated into tourism consumption channels and digital platforms.
With the goal of applying digital transformation in promotion and consumption, the aim is to have 100% of OCOP product introduction and experience points equipped with QR codes for tourists to access product information and cultural stories; 100% of tourism-related OCOP products available on e-commerce platforms, smart tourism applications, and provincial tourism websites; and to pilot 360° videos for at least 10 distinctive products to create an attractive digital experience for tourists. The target is to contribute to socio-economic development with revenue from tourism-related OCOP products accounting for ≥15% of the total OCOP revenue of the entire province.
The project to develop OCOP products into tourism ambassadors for Khanh Hoa province in the 2026-2030 period focuses on nine main contents and tasks: organizing a conference to launch the project; building a list of OCOP products associated with tourism in Khanh Hoa province; building a digital map of OCOP products associated with tourism in Khanh Hoa province; supporting the development of OCOP products serving tourism; completing the OCOP database and applying information technology in OCOP business; focusing on developing OCOP product showrooms; building rural tourism models; general development activities for the OCOP program and products; and summarizing the project annually and for the entire period.
Solutions for developing OCOP (One Commune One Product) in conjunction with tourism focus on seven main areas. First, regarding organization and planning, it is necessary to review and zone OCOP products according to industry and geographical space such as mountainous areas, plains, coastal areas, and ethnic minority regions; and simultaneously build product clusters linked to tourist routes and destinations. The province also needs to apply GIS technology to build a digital map of OCOP-tourism, connecting with craft villages, cultural destinations, and a tourism information portal.
Regarding product development, support is needed to upgrade designs and packaging in a modern direction while still retaining local identity, being environmentally friendly, and suitable as tourist gifts. Simultaneously, a set of criteria for "OCOP Gift-Experience" should be developed to select representative products that can promote the local image.
For OCOP tourism products and services, it is necessary to develop local experiential models such as seaweed tourism, agarwood craft villages, Cham brocade weaving, and visits to specialty raw material areas. Simultaneously, cultural elements and local stories should be integrated into the products to increase their attractiveness.
Regarding the market, it is necessary to strengthen links with travel agencies, hotels, and resorts; develop OCOP tours; expand sales systems at airports, train stations, and tourist areas; and promote e-commerce and OTAs. In the field of digitalization, it is necessary to apply QR codes for traceability, digitize product stories, and build websites and communication platforms for OCOP-tourism.
Regarding human resources, it is necessary to organize training in product development, marketing, and community tourism skills; provide direct consulting support to OCOP entities; and promote the role of artisans in cultural promotion. Finally, it is necessary to improve the mechanisms and policies supporting OCOP in conjunction with tourism and integrate this content into local socio-economic development programs.
The People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province requires that the implementation of the Project must ensure compliance with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, and the province's development strategies, plans, and programs; ensuring consistency, feasibility, and sustainable development.
The implementation process requires enhanced coordination among departments, agencies, and localities; effective mobilization and utilization of resources as prescribed; encouragement of participation from businesses, cooperatives, and the community; and effective communication and promotion efforts to spread cultural values, foster pride in local products, and raise community awareness in preserving and promoting local identity.
