According to statistics, up to now, 69 houses have had water inundated and had their roofs blown off.
The total agricultural production area flooded and collapsed was about 400 hectares, including nearly 300 hectares of rice, more than 100 hectares of vegetables and 20 hectares of perennial trees. It is known that on the afternoon of July 31, the Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited informed the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Bac district about the plan to regulate water through the spillway of Suoi Da lake. As of 7:00 a.m. on July 31, the water level of Suoi Da lake was at +46.03 m, 0.97 m lower than the normal water level and is continuing to increase. Therefore, to avoid flooding in the downstream area when heavy rain occurs in the coming days, the company will regulate water through the spillway of Suoi Da lake to maintain the flood prevention capacity of the project.
The regulation time is at 8:00 a.m. on August 1, with a discharge of 1 m3/s; after 1:00 p.m. on the same day, depending on the flow to the lake and the downstream situation, the flow will increase from 3 to 10 m3/s... To avoid damage to people in the affected areas, the Company requests the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Bac district to notify localities and people along the flood discharge route of Suoi Da lake to proactively take safety precautions.
