Recognizing this trend, high schools in the province have intensified their career guidance efforts, helping students better prepare for the university entrance exams.
Students at Cai Nuoc High School were excited to exchange information and learn about admissions from Bac Lieu University during the weekly flag-raising ceremony at the school.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nguyen, Deputy Principal of Dam Doi High School (Dam Doi commune), said: “Students' choice of major and school should be based on many factors such as their own abilities, family economic conditions, and job opportunities after graduation. At the same time, they must thoroughly research their chosen field of study, from their passion and income potential to the working environment.”
To support students, the school regularly organizes counseling activities, invites universities to give presentations, and creates opportunities for students to visit and experience training facilities and businesses firsthand. Through these activities, students gain more information and a realistic perspective before making their choices.
12th-grade students from Cai Nuoc High School visited Nam Can Tho University and Cuu Long University to learn about different fields of study and the learning environment.
According to teacher Phan Hoang Luy from Cai Nuoc High School, students' perceptions have changed significantly: while in the past many students chose majors based on trends or their friends, now they proactively seek information and consider their options based on their abilities and interests. The school also regularly provides advice on admission requirements and cut-off scores, emphasizing that university is not the only path, and that choosing the right major is crucial for long-term development.
With that guidance, many students have made clearer choices. Nguyen Do Yen Khang, a student in class 12A18 at Cai Nuoc High School, plans to study beauty care at vocational training institutions, based on her interests, talents, and job opportunities. Meanwhile, Bui Ngoc Nhu Y, a student in class 12A3 at Vo Van Kiet High School, chose the English Pedagogy major at Can Tho University because it suits her abilities and academic strengths, although she still has some concerns about the entrance exam and job opportunities.
Choose wisely to go far.
In reality, today's students are not only concerned with "which majors are easy to find jobs in," but also prioritize those that are a good fit for them. This is a positive sign, helping to reduce the problem of students choosing the wrong major or facing difficulties in finding employment after graduation.
During a field trip to the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant, students from Dam Doi High School learned about the modern production environment.
It can be said that, based on the 2025 enrollment trends, students in Ca Mau are better prepared for 2026. The support of schools combined with the proactive approach of students is creating clear changes in career choices.
In the context of a constantly changing job market, choosing the right major is not just a short-term decision but also has a long-term impact on each individual's future. Correct and timely guidance is the "key" to helping students confidently enter university and firmly establish themselves on their path to a successful career.
