National Highway 1 (QL.1), the section passing through the province, is over 90 km long. In recent times, despite the installation of numerous speed limit signs in densely populated areas by authorities, many drivers still violate traffic regulations.

Traffic police officers issued citations to individuals for speeding violations on National Highway 1 in the Chi Lang commune area.

Mr. Hoang Duc Phuong, from Cua Dong block, Luong Van Tri ward, shared: "At the end of November 2025, I was traveling on National Highway 1. Due to carelessness, I exceeded the speed limit by 5km/h to less than 10km/h and was fined 900,000 VND. After paying the fine and receiving guidance from the traffic police, I always remember to drive at the prescribed speed to ensure safety for myself and other road users."

Reporters' investigations reveal that speeding violations remain high, not only on national highways, provincial roads, and urban roads, but also on rural roads, posing a significant risk of traffic accidents.

Following the directives of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee and the Provincial Police Department on ensuring traffic safety and order, the traffic police force throughout the province has strengthened coordination with relevant agencies to promote awareness; installed speed limit signs, warning signs for dangerous road sections and areas prone to accidents, and speed reduction signs; mobilized maximum personnel and coordinated with other forces to implement comprehensive operational work in patrol and control, resolutely handling speed violations on national highways, provincial roads, and areas with high traffic volume.

Lieutenant Colonel Phuong Thuc Dinh, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police, said: To prevent traffic safety violations, including speeding violations, the Traffic Police Department has directed its teams and stations to regularly increase patrols, inspections, and handle speeding violations on key traffic routes, especially on National Highways 1, 1B, 4A, 4B, 3B, and 279… At the same time, they proactively coordinate with relevant agencies to promote awareness and compliance with traffic laws on speed limits through various forms such as: mobile propaganda on traffic routes, loudspeaker systems at some intersections; installing speed limit signs, warning signs for dangerous road sections, and signs indicating areas prone to traffic accidents...

Besides maintaining overt patrols, traffic police also make maximum use of advanced technology to record violations in order to issue "cold" fines for speeding violations. Accordingly, from the beginning of 2026 to the present, through patrol and control work, traffic police have detected and recorded 5,528 cases of speeding violations, accounting for about 30% of the total number of violations processed, with fines totaling 9.1 billion VND; 92 driving licenses revoked, and 929 driving license points deducted…

Mr. Nguyen Hai Nam, a bus driver on the Hanoi -Lang Son route, shared: "Driving at excessive speeds is one of the causes of traffic accidents because at high speeds, drivers have difficulty observing obstacles and cannot anticipate unexpected situations. Furthermore, if faced with an unexpected situation, drivers will be flustered and unable to come up with a safe solution... Therefore, patrolling and monitoring to detect and promptly handle speeding violations is essential."

To reduce traffic accidents caused by speeding, reckless overtaking, and failure to control speed, in the coming period, the traffic police force will continue to coordinate with relevant departments, agencies, and organizations to strengthen the dissemination of legal regulations on traffic order and safety, especially to young people. In particular, they will mobilize maximum resources, vehicles, and technical equipment to intensify the handling of speeding violations, aiming to prevent traffic accidents related to speeding.
