Việt NamViệt Nam22/12/2024

80 years ago, in Tran Hung Dao forest (now in Tam Kim and Hoa Tham communes, Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province), implementing the directive of leader Ho Chi Minh , comrade Vo Nguyen Giap announced the establishment of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army, the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army.

Students visit and learn about the Tran Hung Dao National Special Relic Site (Nguyen Binh District, Cao Bang Province).

According to the memoirs of the late General Vo Nguyen Giap: “December 22, 1944. 5 p.m. The team's founding ceremony was held in a forest between Tran Hung Dao and Hoang Hoa Tham (the place name at that time). The Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army was born under the protection of the spirits of two national heroes.”

"Sacred Forest" Tran Hung Dao

The Tran Hung Dao National Special Relic Site is located about 50 km from Cao Bang city, distributed in Tam Kim and Hoa Tham communes, Nguyen Binh district. The relic site has five main relic sites including: Tran Hung Dao forest; Phai Khat post, where the first battle of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army took place; Tham Khau Cave, where the team gathered when preparing to attack Phai Khat post; Va Pha relic, the military training site of the Viet Minh Headquarters (February 1944) in Tam Kim commune; Na Ngan post relic, in Hoa Tham commune.

Among them, Tran Hung Dao forest is a primeval forest, over 200 hectares wide. In the main yard of the relic site, there is a stone relief depicting the moment when comrade Vo Nguyen Giap, on behalf of the organization, announced the establishment of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army and clearly outlined the team's mission to the Fatherland.

On the left, on a high hill, is the Temple of General Vo Nguyen Giap and 34 soldiers of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army. Here, all year round, all month long, many delegations and groups of tourists come to respectfully offer incense and flowers, in memory of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the beloved General, the “Elder Brother” of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 34 soldiers of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army.

Following a small path under the forest canopy, visitors arrive at the site where the ceremony to announce the establishment of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army took place 80 years ago. Here, on December 22, 1944, history was made when, after announcing the establishment of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army, comrade Vo Nguyen Giap and 34 soldiers of the team recited 10 honorable oaths.

In which, “Article 1. Sacrifice everything for the Fatherland Vietnam, fight to the last drop of blood to destroy the Japanese and French fascists and the Vietnamese traitors, making Vietnam an independent and democratic country, equal to the democratic countries in the world”...

Article 3, “Always fight resolutely, no matter how hard or miserable, do not complain, do not be discouraged in life or death, when going into battle, be determined to charge forward, no matter how much head falls or blood flows, do not retreat”..., the 10 honorable oaths of the soldiers of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army that day seem to still echo today and forever.

The spirit of "determination to fight, determination to win", determination to sacrifice for the Fatherland and the people of the soldiers is still received and continued by generations of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army, writing the heroic history of our Army.

Introducing the central stele house in the relic site, with a warm voice, tour guide Hoang Thi He said that in 1994, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the Ministry of National Defense invested in building the central stele house in the relic site.

The central stele has four sides of gold letters, engraved with the full text of President Ho Chi Minh's Directive on the establishment of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army; the 10 oaths of honor that comrade Vo Nguyen Giap and 34 soldiers read out loud that day; and the list of 34 soldiers of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army. To this day, the 10 oaths of honor of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army are still the guiding principle for each generation of cadres and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army.

Joining the group of excellent history students to visit the relic site, Trieu Thi Hoang Ngoc, a student of class 12A1, Nguyen Binh District High School, shared that she was honored to be selected to join the group to visit the Tran Hung Dao Forest National Special Relic Site. She was very moved and understood more deeply the passionate patriotism, heroic spirit, and willingness to endure and overcome sacrifices and hardships of our ancestors and previous generations of revolutionaries for the independence and freedom of the nation, for the happiness of the people.

Admiring the heroic and sacrificial example of my fathers, of previous generations of revolutionaries, the first soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army, I determined that I need to continue to study well and train well, so that in the future I can contribute a small part, following in the footsteps of previous generations of fathers and brothers, to build and develop the country.

Sharing about the preparations for events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, comrade Dao Van Mui, Director of the Management Board of Special National Monuments of Cao Bang province, said that the Tran Hung Dao Forest Special National Monument has been invested in and built to be spacious and worthy.

In preparation for the events taking place in the historic month of December, the officers and staff of the Management Board have done a good job of cleaning and beautifying the relic site, and at the same time, arranging human resources and tour guides, ready to attentively serve the delegations and tourist groups coming to the relic site.

Worthy of the title "Uncle Ho's soldiers"

As the assessment and orientation of leader Ho Chi Minh mentioned in his directive on the establishment of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army: "... Although its scale was small at first, its future was very glorious...", after 80 years of building, fighting and growing, our Army has always completed and excellently completed all tasks that the Party, State and people trusted and assigned.

Our army achieved the Dien Bien Phu Victory that “resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world”; achieved the Spring Victory of 1975, unifying the country. During the period of renovation, implementing the principle of self-reliance and self-strengthening, combined with the purchase of modern equipment and weapons, our army has built a regular, elite force, advancing towards comprehensive modernization.

Military officers and soldiers are always on the front lines, present at "hot spots" of natural disasters, storms and floods, not afraid of difficulties, hardships, and potential dangers to search, rescue, and help people prevent and overcome the consequences of natural disasters, worthy of the title "Uncle Ho's soldiers", worthy of the title of an army "born from the people, serving the people".

Proud to be an armed force in the homeland where the heroic Vietnam People's Army was founded, over the years, officers and soldiers of the Cao Bang Provincial Military Command have actively studied and followed the ideology, morality and style of President Ho Chi Minh; deeply and widely deployed patriotic emulation movements, successfully completing all assigned tasks.

Colonel Duong Van Toan, Political Commissar of the Cao Bang Provincial Military Command, shared that the armed forces of Cao Bang province promoted emulation movements to preserve weapons and equipment, train to ensure combat readiness, and build solid defense areas.

In addition, the local armed forces also closely cooperated and performed well in mass mobilization work, helping people build roads, build and repair houses, and build new rural areas... In September 2024, due to the impact of storm No. 3 (storm Yagi), heavy rain and landslides occurred in Cao Bang province, causing heavy damage to people and property. Thousands of officers, soldiers, and militia were present in time to help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Ms. Vu Thi Ut, in Group 2, Hop Giang Ward, Cao Bang City shared: "Due to heavy rain, the river water rose and flooded the first floor. My family was confused and worried that we would not be able to move our belongings to a safe place. Then the officers and soldiers of the armed forces arrived in time, helping my family move valuable belongings to the second floor and raise household items on the first floor, helping my family reduce damage caused by flooding."

At landslide hotspots that caused human losses such as Khuoi Ngoa hamlet, Lung Ly hamlet, Ca Thanh commune; Lung Sung hamlet, Yen Lac commune, Nguyen Binh district, hundreds of officers and soldiers of the armed forces were present in time, on duty at the scene, braving the rain and wading through mud, taking advantage of the time to search, rescue, and support people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters. The "for the people, for the country" deeds of generations of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" have embellished the heroic and glorious history of our Army and engraved in the hearts of the people the tradition of "wherever the people are in difficulty, there are soldiers".

After 80 years of building, fighting and growing, the army established under the canopy of Tran Hung Dao forest has become increasingly politically strong, organizationally streamlined, and modern in weapons and equipment, ready to receive and complete all tasks entrusted to it by the Party, State and people.
