The Prime Minister and the working delegation inspected the construction progress of the second runway worth more than VND 2,500 billion, undertaken by a consortium of strong contractors including ACC - Truong Son - Vinaconex - Vinadic - ACJC647 - Khanh Thien - VTG.
At the construction site, there are 283 engineers, workers and 127 machines and equipment, simultaneously deploying construction teams of foundation, road base, drainage system and M150 cement concrete layer; the value of the completed volume reached 68.6 billion VND and the materials gathered on site reached about 100 billion VND.
Currently, Vietnam Airlines Corporation (ACV) has selected a contractor under a special mechanism, starting construction of the second runway on May 30, expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
The delegation then continued to inspect the 5.10 package, the construction of the passenger terminal undertaken by the Vietur consortium. This is the “heart” of the entire Long Thanh airport project phase 1, with the basic goal of completing construction by the end of 2025 and operating in the first half of 2026.
Currently, the station construction site has about 4,700 engineers, workers and more than 1,000 pieces of machinery and equipment; the completed volume is about 16,002 billion VND, the underground and above-ground floors from 1 to 4 have completed the structure; the central roof steel structure is 99% complete, the first roof has been completed.
According to the plan, the entire construction, architectural completion, MEP, ICT and terminal equipment installation will be completed before December 19, 2025 to enter the testing phase, ready for operation.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited, encouraged and presented gifts to officers, engineers and workers working at the Long Thanh airport project site and praised the efforts of the team of engineers and workers who worked day and night on the construction site in harsh weather conditions.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that this is a symbolic project of a new development stage not only for the Southeast region but also for the whole country, so he requested contractors and construction management units to continue promoting the construction spirit, ensuring quality, safety and progress.
