Railways are transporting relief supplies to flood-affected areas free of charge.

In response to the Prime Minister's directive on urgently addressing the consequences of the storm and floods, from October 10th, Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) has been accepting and transporting relief goods free of charge to people in areas affected by Typhoon No. 11 and its aftermath.

According to VNR, the railway sector will only accept and transport relief goods free of charge from organizations and individuals through the People's Committees, the Fatherland Front , and the Red Cross Societies of provinces and centrally-administered cities. VNR requests that organizations and individuals contact these agencies and units for specific guidance on the procedures for receiving and sending relief goods.

Goods receiving and unloading operations are organized at qualified main stations on the national railway network, such as: Saigon, Song Than, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Hue, Dong Hoi, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong… Relief goods will be transported to Giap Bat and Hanoi stations.

The free shipping program runs from October 10th until further notice.
