| The area in Minh Xuan ward, which used to be a hub for street markets and vendors, is now clear and free from encroachment on roads and sidewalks after recent campaigns to restore urban order. |
Implement decisively
In Minh Xuan ward, urban order restoration efforts have been implemented comprehensively with many specific solutions to address the encroachment of sidewalks and roads for business and trading purposes. From January 2026 to the present, functional forces have organized numerous campaigns to inspect, handle, and maintain urban and public order; organized the signing of commitments with over 800 business households; and installed signs prohibiting markets and street vending on many streets.
During the inspection, authorities dismantled over 100 awnings and canopies; confiscated over 300 illegal advertising signs that obstructed traffic and affected urban aesthetics; and handled 950 cases of violations in the fields of traffic safety and urban order, with a total fine of over 350 million VND.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Tuan Anh, Head of the Traffic and Order Police Team of Minh Xuan Ward Police, said: “After the first 15 days of the campaign, we have disseminated information to thousands of households. The people are very supportive and strictly comply with regulations regarding business and trade. After the peak period, the authorities will continue to maintain regular vigilance, preventing the recurrence of encroachment on sidewalks and roads.”
Not only has enforcement been decisive, but it's also noticeable that the awareness of many business owners has improved significantly. In local markets, goods are arranged more neatly, and the practice of vendors spilling onto the streets has decreased considerably.
Ms. Chu Thi Son, a small business owner at Tam Co Market, shared: “Thanks to the awareness campaign by the authorities, we have signed a commitment and will strictly abide by the regulations on conducting business without encroaching on sidewalks and roads; at the same time, we will maintain cleanliness in the trading area and not leave garbage scattered around that affects the environment.”
Not only small business owners agree, but many residents also express their support for restoring urban order. Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Hong said: “We strongly agree with clearing the indiscriminate street vending on the roads. Clear roads and sidewalks make it more convenient for people to travel. Business owners have also signed commitments and strictly abide by the rule of not encroaching on sidewalks and roads.”
Maintain discipline
In Ha Giang 2 ward, maintaining clear roads and sidewalks is achieved through coordination between functional forces, neighborhood groups, and various organizations. Neighborhood Zalo groups and public address systems are regularly used to disseminate information and remind residents to comply with urban order regulations, maintain environmental hygiene, and refrain from encroaching on sidewalks and roads.
Comrade Ha Minh Man, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Giang 2 Ward, said that since the beginning of the year, the ward has maintained regular propaganda through the public address system; coordinated with residential groups to remind people to comply with regulations on urban order, maintain environmental hygiene, and not encroach on sidewalks and roads for business and trading.
Along with the involvement of local authorities, the role of neighborhood groups and residents in maintaining urban order has also been clearly demonstrated. Mr. Do Van Tuyen, head of Group 6, Ha Giang 2 Ward, shared: “We consider maintaining urban order a long-term task. Neighborhood groups regularly coordinate in disseminating information and reminding people to comply with regulations; at the same time, we encourage residents to keep the roads clear and sidewalks unobstructed, creating a clean and beautiful landscape.”
Thanks to the decisive intervention of the authorities and the consensus of the people, many streets and markets in the province have become neater and more spacious. Maintaining urban order not only contributes to ensuring traffic safety and preserving urban aesthetics but also gradually fosters a civilized lifestyle and builds a clean, beautiful, and safe living environment for the community.
