(HNMO) - Female wushu athlete Duong Thuy Vi excellently won gold medals in spearmanship and swordsmanship on her 30th birthday. This is also the first gold medal on May 11 for the Vietnamese sports delegation.
Duong Thuy Vi's score was 9.623, leading the women's swordsmanship category. The swordsmanship category score will be added to the spearmanship category score to calculate the medal. As a result, Duong Thuy Vi finished the competition with the following achievements: Spearmanship (9.606 points), swordmanship (9.623 points), total score is 9.3145, winning the Gold Medal. This is also Thuy Vi's great joy on her 30th birthday.
Sharing after winning the Gold Medal, the "golden girl" of Hanoi sports, Duong Thuy Vi, said that after completing the second test, she breathed a sigh of relief because she had competed with all her might and completed the test well.
“I am very happy because this is my special birthday. As everyone knows, at the 2013 SEA Games (Myanmar), I won the first gold medal of my career. Now, after 10 years, I am still standing here to receive the gold medal. This is very meaningful to me,” Duong Thuy Vi expressed.
At the 32nd SEA Games, the events such as stick and knife techniques, sword and spear techniques, spear techniques, tai chi, tai chi sword, and tai chi are not counted as separate results. According to the regulations of the organizing committee, the events are combined to count for a set of medals including: stick and knife, sword and spear, tai chi and tai chi sword.
This causes difficulties and significantly affects the achievements of the Vietnamese wushu team. However, this is also a common difficulty for other teams with strengths in wushu.
In yesterday's competition (May 10), the Vietnamese wushu team brought home a bronze medal from Nong Van Huu in the men's bantamweight event.
Today, wushu continues to compete in some events of men's stick techniques, women's stick techniques, and weight classes... Hopefully, the athletes will continue to bring home more medals for Vietnamese sports.
