On November 17, Emirates airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) ordered 65 Boeing 777X aircraft in a deal worth 38 billion USD on the first day of the Dubai Air Show 2025.
Speaking at a press conference, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Group, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, said this is a long-term commitment to support hundreds of thousands of jobs in high-value manufacturing.
Emirates, which is the largest customer for the Boeing 777 family, has ordered 270 Boeing 777X aircraft, 10 Boeing 777 freighters and 35 Boeing 787 aircraft.
Emirates, owned by the government of Dubai, is the world's most profitable airline with $2.9 billion in profits in the first six months of this year.
Emirates, which has ordered 315 Boeing wide-body aircraft, has previously expressed frustration over repeated delays in deliveries of the 777X.
Acknowledging that some may be skeptical about Emirates' large backlog of aircraft orders, Sheikh Ahmed insisted that every aircraft ordered had been carefully considered in the airline's growth plans.
The much-delayed aircraft deliveries are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027, which also includes 130 GE9X engines from General Electric.
