On November 17, Emirates airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) placed an order for 65 Boeing 777X aircraft in a deal worth $38 billion on the first day of the Dubai Airshow 2025.
Speaking at a press conference, Emirates Group Chairman and CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum stated that this is a long-term commitment to supporting hundreds of thousands of high-value manufacturing jobs.
Emirates, already the largest customer for the Boeing 777, has now ordered 270 Boeing 777X aircraft, 10 Boeing 777 cargo planes, and 35 Boeing 787s.
Emirates, owned by the Dubai government, is the world's most profitable airline, with $2.9 billion in profit during the first six months of this year.
Having already ordered 315 Boeing wide-body aircraft, Emirates had previously expressed frustration over repeated delays in the delivery of its 777X planes.
While acknowledging that some might be skeptical about Emirates' large backlog of aircraft orders, Sheikh Ahmed asserted that every aircraft ordered had been carefully considered within the airline's growth plan.
The delivery of the aircraft, which has been repeatedly delayed, is expected to begin in early Q2 2027, and will also include 130 GE9X engines from General Electric.
