According to the announcement, Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus cost $3.99 per month, while WhatsApp Plus costs $2.99 per month.
The Plus packages are designed specifically for each app. Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus focus on self-expression on social media, while WhatsApp aims for personalization and message management. Instagram Plus allows tracking the number of people who re-view stories, expanding the audience for stories to unlimited, instead of just close friends.
Users can also select a featured story each week to increase views, extend the story's display time beyond 24 hours, secretly preview other people's stories (without displaying their names in the viewer list), and search for specific viewers within a story.
The paid plan also allows posting directly to profiles and featured stories. These posts will not appear in followers' news feeds.
Other features of Instagram Plus include the "Super Heart" emoji in stories, changes to the app icon, font customization for profile summaries, and an increased number of pinned posts to the top of the profile page.
For Meta AI users, the company is testing two new service packages: Meta One Plus ($8/month) and Meta One Premium ($20/month). Both packages offer similar features. However, the Premium package expands the reasoning capabilities for complex tasks and increases the limits for image and video creation.
According to the plan, starting in June, Meta will test its paid AI service in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia before expanding to other markets.
Meta stated that its AI chatbot will remain free for all users. However, the number of times AI-generated content can be created will be limited after exceeding a certain usage threshold. The company has not yet announced specific limits for each service package.
Meta's move to charge more for AI and social media shows that platforms once familiar with the "free for ads" model are gradually changing. As the AI race becomes increasingly expensive, users may have to get used to paying for many features that were previously offered for free.
