It seemed that the price competition between Ford Territory and Mazda CX-5 would end after Territory launched its mid-life upgrade in mid-August 2025, but in September 2025, both models continued to introduce new pricing policies.
In August, Territory no longer enjoyed the 100% registration fee support policy, but in September, dealers proactively launched a direct discount of 20 million VND on the selling price. Thanks to that, the actual price of Territory currently fluctuates from 742 - 876 million VND for all three versions.

On the other hand, the Mazda CX-5 benefits from a 50% registration fee support policy, bringing the starting price down to 709 million VND. Some dealers even reduce the standard version by 5 million VND, bringing the actual price down to only 704 million VND, almost equivalent to some B-class SUV models such as the highest version of Mitsubishi Xforce (705 million VND).
According to a report by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), total sales of member car manufacturers in August 2025 decreased by 18% compared to the previous month. Ford Territory was heavily affected when it sold only 481 cars, down 48%. The main reason is that this car model is no longer as strongly promoted as before, plus August falls in the Ngau month (7th lunar month), which is the low season of the car market.

Meanwhile, the Mazda CX-5 also recorded a 35.4% decrease compared to July, with 1,025 cars sold. However, the Japanese model still holds the leading position in the C-SUV segment, surpassing a series of competitors.
Not only Ford Territory and Mazda CX-5, many other models in the segment are also stimulated in September 2025. Subaru Forester deeply discounted 170 - 230 million VND depending on the version. Honda CR-V G and L versions are supported with 50% of registration fee, while Hyundai Tucson is applied with incentives of up to 55 million VND by TC Motor.

The dense promotion policies that last from month to month show that the Vietnamese auto market still depends heavily on incentives to stimulate demand. This is also a common trend in the context of purchasing power not recovering clearly after many months of stagnation.
