The investment will be used to provide scholarships for information and communication technology (ICT) students to study Japanese domestically, as well as scholarships for student exchange programs in Japan, and to implement Japanese language training and teaching at universities, etc.

Accordingly, from 2024-2026, FPT Software will strengthen cooperation with universities and reputable Japanese language centers nationwide to jointly train ICT students in Japanese. The program aims for students to achieve at least N3 certification upon graduation, ready to meet job requirements in Japan.
Currently, 15 universities and ICT training institutions across the country are participating in this program, and it will continue to expand in both scale and number of participating institutions in the future. Each year, FPT Software plans to award more than 500 scholarships to talented ICT students at universities.
Mr. Do Van Khac, CEO of FPT Japan, affirmed: “ The Japanese government is promoting investment in digital transformation to maintain its position as an economic powerhouse. Seizing this opportunity, FPT Japan is continuously developing a strong workforce with expertise and Japanese language skills to be ready to undertake more complex projects for large Japanese businesses.”
"Over the next five years, we need approximately 20,000 ICT engineers to work at our campuses in Vietnam and offices in Japan to meet the staffing needs for projects with Japanese clients ."
FPT Software's investment provides an opportunity for ICT students to quickly master Japanese and leverage this advantage to advance their careers. By participating in the program, students will experience a professional working environment and participate in high-level projects with leading experts in various fields.
At the same time, FPT Software directly connects ICT talents with large Japanese companies that are in need of personnel.
In addition to providing a foreign language advantage to Vietnam's ICT workforce, FPT Software also collaborates with universities and academies in the industry to support the design and development of training programs that closely match market realities. As a result, ICT professionals are equipped with the knowledge and skills to best meet the needs of businesses.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh, Human Resources Director of FPT Software, shared: “ 10-15 years ago, FPT Software, like other Vietnamese ICT companies in Japan, focused on human resource development. This has significantly contributed to the success and position of Vietnamese technology companies in Japan today.”
Now that the Japanese ICT market is once again preparing for a period of rapid growth, building a skilled workforce is becoming even more urgent. To achieve this, universities play a crucial role in collaborating with businesses to optimize training time and provide career guidance for students.
The seminar "Japan: A Bright Spot for ICT Personnel in the Global Context" was held in Hanoi .
To enable students and universities to stay ahead of market trends, FPT Software proactively connects with universities and the ICT community. Notably, in September and October, FPT Software collaborated with the Vietnam-Japan Digital Transformation Association (VADX Japan) to organize a series of seminars titled "Japan: A Bright Spot for ICT Professionals in a Global Context" in three cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang.
The series of events was attended by over 300 guests, including company leaders from Rikkei, VTI, FABBI, and representatives from leading Japanese language schools and universities specializing in ICT across the country.
A large number of guests participated in the series of events organized by FPT Software and VADX at the Da Nang venue.
According to Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the country will face a shortage of nearly 800,000 ICT engineers by 2030. To attract high-quality personnel, especially in the ICT sector, the government has implemented various policies to incentivize foreign talent.
Recently, the Justice Committee of the Japanese House of Representatives passed a bill that would allow highly skilled foreign workers to settle, bring their families over, and work indefinitely in Japan.
Vietnamese engineers can also easily obtain the Tokutei Ginou (Specified Skilled Worker) visa, which offers many benefits and long-term residency, a priority Japan is currently giving to Vietnamese personnel.
